Well thats pointless then isnt it.

Should be included as it makes the punishment a punishment not just a money making exercise.

Problem is that, if it was included in the accounts, then those who fail FFP be pretty much guaranteed to fail again the year after (barring some sort of bookkeeping miracle) and, if there was a fine of similar proportion included each time, it would turn into a perpetual cycle of failures, fines and exclusion from the UCL. Good luck getting top class players and better commercial investment after that.

Zenit Leningrad,Galatasaray and Anzhi<sic> are the latest clubs to be named as falling foul of FFP.According to 5live UEFA may release a statement tonight detailing punishments against those that have broken FFP rules.

  7. I agree with you but it needs to be done in three stages IMO. Fine & reduced squad (aka Man City), same but points too and then exclusion on the third strike.

If City did get booted out of the Champions League do you think UEFA would give their place to Everton, with us having automatic qualification ?

"Manchester City fined and squad capped for FFP breach

Manchester City have been fined £49m, £32m of which is suspended, and can only name a 21-man Champions League squad next season after failing Uefa financial fair play rules.
Another sanction means City can only spend £49m on players this summer, as well as any transfer fees they receive.
And their wage bill for 2014-15 must stay the same as this season. "

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says Uefa should punish clubs that break its financial fair play (FFP) rules by excluding them from European football.
Nine clubs are being dealt with by Uefa for FFP breaches, with Manchester City yet to resolve their sanctions.
Wenger, 64, thinks a ban from European competition is a fair punishment.
"You would think that you accept the rules and you're in the competition, or you don't accept the rules and you're not in the competition," he said.
"There are rules. You respect them or you don't respect them. If you don't respect them you have to be punished."

Oh boo hoo. Even with fines being included in accounts, Man City could, if they felt so inclined, reduce their expenditure to the extent that they would pass FFP. Plenty of clubs in the past have had fire sales in the past. In the summer of 2012, we had to sell almost every single player in our squad otherwise we would have been liquidated. We started the season with three contracted players with an average age of about 19. Any hypothetical reduction in expenditure would be far less dramatic and have far less dramatic potential consequences. So forgive me if I'm not altogether that sympathetic towards the league buyers.

i would agree with that .
These clubs have all been forewarned of whats coming , they just chose to ignore the rules , not bent them .

They certainly deserve no sympathy .

Another good point. It wasn't as if UEFA suddenly expected them to change their whole financial plan in 1 year or less, they've had years to plan ahead and make sure they meet the regulations. Everyone else did it, they just assumed (correctly) that UEFA wouldn't have big enough balls to exclude them from the competition.

It's how much money FIFA officials needed to build their new houses.

:1980_boogie_down: it seems football officials are all crooked. we have aWold cup in 2022 in a country that is impossible to play in and Blatter admits its a mistake. yet it will go ahead as they all have had bribes to pick Qatar.
