I think we know this which is why we are discussing the proposed rule changes. It may be difficult for you to understand so just enjoy your little jump up and down and don't worry to much about trying to understand larger concepts.

The income/support model has produced elites, it always will and clubs like Arsenal, Man U, Liverpool, Everton, and Spurs have been top teams for a very long time

during that time many other clubs have had their time at the top. Ipswich, Villa, Blackburn, Leeds, Notts. Forest, Burnley, Wolves. Chelsea, Man C., and more.

Clearly recognises that City have had time at the top of the game, including their current ascendant position.

I think you'll find that before City hit the jackpot our record for winning things was very dissimilar, your last trophy was in 76, we won 6 trophies after that win.

Also you spent some time in the 3rrd division, and quite a bit in the second, we only spent one season in the 2nd during that time.

There's a lot of delusion amongst City fans, not all of them, that you were somehow on a par with us before you got given a stadium and then a stack of cash. You weren't on our level for some thirty years, crystallised in our famous 3-2 win in 81, which sent the clubs on different paths.

Had it not been for the freebies you'd still be below our level IMHO.

Historically before your recent success, you have had just over half our amount of trophies 17 to 9 in our favour

Provided our new ground is funded properly, and not sponsored by some highly dubious, incestuous sponsor ( unlike some!!) there is no reason why a properly constructed set of FFP rules, targeted specifically at the needs of the premiership, would curb anybody except those who use vast amounts of unearned income to support their spending. And we all know who they are!..

I wouldn't disagree with " properly constructed" for the EPL or Europe, however, with Utd having a major influence don't hold your breath, they need to get back to winning or their empire is in danger of collapsing because unlike Arsenal they have massive dept, another 1 or 2 years without a trophy I believe would create major problems. As for unearned income, give it a rest you were quick to take advantage of it last year, as for those of you waiting like vultures for City failing to meet the FFP criteria I think you may be in for a massive disappointment, a bit like last season really!

For City to get within the current FFP rules would require nothing short of a magician to rejig their balance sheet. Which is somewhat of a misnomer in this case, as it couldn't really get much more unbalanced.
I agree, to an extent, about Utd's problems. But, you see, this kind of thing is always liable to happen when a new owner actually wants to run the club as a business. Not as some "more money than sense" plaything.

Well Villa have won more trophies than us. If trophies = bigger, then us and Everton are bigger than City.

That wasn't the original debate though, the original argument was that we have massively outprfomed City for 30 years between 80-2009 until you hit the jackpot, but for some reason many City fans think you were on a similar level to us in that period, when clearly you weren't.

Furthermore had you not won the oil lottery, we'd be continuing to comfortably outperform you.

FFP has to address issues such as sponsorship or it will be pointless. If a "friendly" sponsor simply makes up any deficits and then some, lets say some non-profitable airline with a marketing budget greater than the GDP of some countries, what is the point of trying to do any sort of meaningful calculation. But I don't know how that could happen unless sponsorship was capped... and then no doubt the money could be provided by some other means. I dunno, there has to be some kind of ratio to football earnings (through the turnstiles etc) vs. sponsorship... and perhaps even more importantly there has to be the will by the authorities to actually *impose it*!

No I think you will find all my comments were trying to debate the issues with FFP but a couple of you have tried to turn it into a pissing contest, check out 1965 /1980 along with the fact that you have not won the league for over half a century. You say we have won the oil lottery, I say we have someone who came and bought the club similar to the owners of Arsenal, Utd, Liverpool, Villa and a few more, but unlike these he has only put money into the game in order to reach his long term objectives, whereby the owners of Utd are taking massive amounts out of the game to service their other interests. City and Chelsea have benefited from our generous owners and in my opinion so has the EPL, my point all along was that maybe Spurs could benefit if a new owner came along who had real vision for the club,but alas FFP will put a stop to that now, which I don't agree with.

Sorry but you are wrong, you will find our accounts will be moving in the right direction to meet the FFP regs and if you don't think we are being run as a business you need to understand the long term vision, our owner has more business acumen than the Glazers and the rest of them put together.

Your accounts appear to be rather distorted by deals that should fall foul of the FFP regulations, though.
I'm not saying that they will, as I'm sure your accountants will work out some way around it, but your spending is completely unsustainable at the moment.
