Jackanory - think it's time for your medicine. Glad that Bodde was back and looking sharp while he was on. As good as Gower and Allen's passing is, they've always been compared to Ferrie and have never quite had it like he did. I'm not saying that Ferrie will get that side of his game back to it's best, but if we can get him anywhere close, he's going to be spraying balls left, right and centre like we haven't seen for ages!
Umm, I believe he's on a pay-to-play contract so it would be in his best interest to stay fit. I agree his tenure at Swansea is really disappointing, but I really don't think it's his fault.
i thought bodde had some nice touches even though you could see he was not 100% match fit, he needs a few games yet before he will play 80% of any game. Brendan and his staff knows what they are doing with regards to bodde so we as fans should not complain. to call bodde a scrounger is way over the top as i would think that the club think it is worth every penny to retain his services and who are we to argue with that, give bodde a chance as we all know that when he plays we have something very special on the pitch.....if he should break down again then you will find that bodde himself will call it a day and that would be a shame for him and our club..
Well said superswan99 - Bodde is a tremendous asset for us, and it's a win-win situation for us and him. Let's hope he can avoid injury and show the Premier League what it's been missing!!!
If Bodde can grow in importance & form as the season goes on , an on form , healthy Bodde would solve a lot of problems this season & save a bit of money to boot .
To be fair to Pennock he can only work with what turns up on the doorstep. If the talent isn't there to begin with you can't manufacture it. Not saying he's brilliant or anything, but I've not seen many juniors we've had in the last 5-10 years who I thought should have made it and didn't. Chris Jones and Jamie Rewbury are probably the only two who should have made more of an impact.
They don't look so hard in fairness. I'm sure I read somewhere that Ivor Allchurch was spotted playing in Singleton Park by an ex-Swan, and that kind of thing just doesn't happen any more. There's a wealth of talent to be had, but a combination of old habits and restrictive recruitment regulations mean we could be doing better as far as attracting quality young players to the club goes.
Also, found this while cross-referencing my claim about Allchurch being spotted in the park, interesting article! http://www.swanseacity.net/page/JackTheLadArticle/0,,10354~2327325,00.html
More links... interview with Ferrie about his knee. I'm thrilled to hear him sounding so positive, and also it's interesting to see he commented on all the people assuming the worst. While you can't blame some people for doing that, at least wait until either the club or player say something about the "injury"! If Ferrie says he's fine, that's good enough for me... http://www.walesonline.co.uk/footba...ightmare-is-finally-behind-me-91466-29069964/
