Pointless comparison considering the gulf in class between the two players. Torres is a current European and World Cup champion. Carolol was playing in the Championship just over a year ago. You yourselves paid less £7m+ less for Torres than you did for Carolol. Honestly if someone were to compare the two in summer 2010 you Liverpool fans would have been calling for that person to be taken to a mental asylum for even daring to mention Carololol in the same breath as Torres.

But we aren't comparing them in 2010? We are comparing them in the present and there isn't an awful lot between them on current showing.

I genuinely believe that Torres will become lethal again this season.

Feel as though many of you will be eating your words by the end of the season. Might put a cheeky bet on him winning the golden boot.

I dont think he will ever be the same player again. Hes had his best season already and will be forgotten about by the time hes 31. A seriously poor player nowadays and the excuse of confidence lacking is not gonna wash anymore.

The guy is ****, plain and simple. The comparison with Di Santo is spot on right now, both are the worst strikers in PL football.

i would say bedtner is a much worse player, he is nowhere near the worst player in the league, chamakh is also worse

At the end of the day we sold Torres for £50 mil - got Carroll and Suarez for a combined £58 mil (approx).

Anyone that thinks we got stitched up needs their head tested.

And by the way - why are your thick fans using a banner with Torres on with the Shankly gates on it?? <laugh>

He's not looking good, gotta admit. But we all know what he's capable of, and I don't think his days as a goal threat are over.

Yet surprisingly our drunkard with a ponytail outscored your girly boy last season, and during pre-season and looks set to outscore him this season too. If we're actually talking about how many Carroll scored, he scored once yesterday, but it was wrongly disallowed.

Pre-season is all about fitness, not about how many you score. We ourselves actually have quality all over the pitch so don't need to rely on just one man. But Torres also had two wrongly disallowed goals last season.

So if Lionel Messi has a bad run of games then he is only as good as Joe Cole who has been pretty brass these last couple of years. You would have to be either on drugs to think that, or be Steven Gerrard.

Form is temporary, class is permanent.

torres will inevitabily come back to being good again, that is football however whehter that is with chelsea is debatable

Torres used all of his "class" as a goalscorer while he was in a Liverpool shirt.

Clearly not the case with Torres is it.

I mean Shevshenko? Did he go from **** to good at Chelsea? Nope.

Some players just dont. Look at Drogba, he can be terrible for a few months but you know he will eventually come good. Torres isnt like that.

"Torres was sharp and had generally a good game"

But he did'nt do what he gets paid for yet again and again got subbed.

Hes got more splinters in his arse than goals for Chelsea because he's spent most of his Chelsea career on their bench.

Oh please behave
It was two minutes before the end of the game <doh>

A bad run of games? 38 games isn't a run, it's a season. I agree, form is temporary to a degree. But how long can being terrible be described as poor form? 2 years? 3 years?

Part of the problem is, he clicked so well with Gerrard because Gerrard is a class act that it made Torres looked unplayable. Last year Gerrard was out for long spells and Torres looked lost. Now he has to try and get on the end of Lampard's deflected shots because Lampard isn't good enough to link up with him. Maybe drop him for Yossi and you might start seeing Torres score a few more.

0 v0 ay? Didn't expect that. Squads too old. No goal again for Torres.

Cannot see anything but United winning the title this year.

He's lost that extra yard of pace in and around the box he had when he was at Liverpool. Once that goes and you get older it never comes back. He clearly needs to change his approach if he wants any of his old form back.

He has been terrible for 3 seasons - value should be approx £10 mil.

I don't like seeing great players start their decline but this is clearly what is happening to Torres. Oh well at least he will look back on his career and say he played his best football whilst at Liverpool FC.

how do you know?

Have you seen him?

He looks like he could actually burst out crying on the pitch and scream for his mum. He looks very very uncomfortable indeed and this isnt the sign of a player simply lacking confidence. Its a player who has none left at all.
