Some of those fares look to be much less than the UK tax would be! Can't argue with them though. They make their cash throught he extras - charging for that extra inch on your bag, having a reserved seat, forgetting to check in on line etc., not even giving a glass of water to thirsty people sat on the tarmac for ages without charging..They must also reward their staff by how much 'extra' they bring in.
Yes, I believe their staff get paid commission on all sales made on board. I also believe their non-Ryanair agents which they use in various airports get paid commission for every overweight bag or every cabin bag that is too big and has to be checked in. They are particularly bad at this in holiday destination airports like, the Canaries, Balearics, Alicante, Malaga etc... I remember being in Tenerife Airport and they tried to charge me for my check-in bag being overweight by 1 kilo. One shagging kilo. I know what you mean regards the glass of water thing. I have been there a few times.
Id have pulled out a kilo of worn boxers and socks and offered it to them. Ive basically stopped flying because of the hell airports/airlines put you through.
I always get onto the back of the plane ... First to bogs First for tea... and first off to get to Hertz Mrs Dt and I shoot off every month if we can and over the years i have found the shortcuts .. got Crumpler weekenders bags and rarely have a bag in the hold ... Still surprises me how we find air travel a luxury ... its transport is it not? back in the day I would leave Brighton area at 5am and be on my roof garden in Beziers by 8:45 local all for about 40 quid .. we are so lucky .. enjoy it can't understand the odd moans use it for what it is ... cheap way from a to b
The thing I dislike most about 'budget' airlines is the way they prey on the vulnerable. When you're travelling solo you can jump many of the hurdles they put in your way. Travelling with young children is a different story. I just got back from Spain, 2 week holiday flying from Knock. Only choice is Ryanair. With 4 young kids under 9 it's not possible to enter the scrum for seats and win, you have to reserve your seats - â¬120 extra. Again, if it was possible to get a 5 year old to carry a 10 kilo bag on board we wouldn't have to put luggage in the hold, so 2 bags equals â¬280 extra.
Anyone see the south park episode where my garrison invents a new type of travel thats controlled by sitting on a dildo, he says its still less painful than travelling by air. please log in to view this image
