I think Ferdinand has been ok tbh. Mh will only make him captain though, if he is planning to make him first choice next season, probably with a new partner. Hill, although superb last season, will probably be cover in the up-coming season. Onouha could well move inside, where I think he'd be better than at RB as he's not great on the ball, but he seems a little quiet to be skipper!! Diakite doesn't speak the lingo so he's out. Faurlin, too seems a little quiet to lead us on the pitch! Not many options are there? Derry and Hill are the obvious choices, but they will probably not be regulars. Mackie may not always start either as we're chasing players like Moses!! Comes back to Ferdinand for me!!
I prefer Clint to Ferdinand, both as the better CB and more likely to keep his place if we sign a new CB, and as captain. For me Clint and Derry are natural leaders, I don't think Anton, Mackie or Onouha are. But I've also noticed a change in Adel the last few months, he seems to be directing more and more and perhaps he coulld be captain again. For me Adel should be pretty well a regular starter just about whoever comes in, and offering him the captaincy now could help us keep him another season.
Deliberately controverial as ever Swords. Shame you don't get to attend more games or you could get the feel for the influence he has on those around him and the rapport he is steadily building with the LR crowd. It's true he has not had the spectacular career of his brother but he is set to grow in stature along with the club IMO. This man is the next QPR captain - deal with it.
Theres no point naming a captain for this season and then having to do it again next season, Derry and Hill are 34 or 35 and wont be playing every game and probably wont be here next season.
How is that controversial? It was NUT's article, I was just agreeing with it! How can saying "I agree" with someone be controversial? Unless it was a Neo-Nazi I was agreeing with and I don't think NUTS is one of those. (Although I'm open to correction on that ).
Dunno it's a problem to have a captain for just one season, but as I said Adel could be the best option. You can also have Clint directing things defensively, or a new guy if we get the right one in.
Interesting to note that nobody has defended Barton on this thread. Nobody seems to think that he will be our captain next year. We continue to be a club in transition, Hill and Derry are perfect for captain in regards to attitude and comittment, but do not have years on their side. Our next captain should have MHs stamp written all over it. Maybe it's a player that we have not even signed yet.
AAAAAAGH, it was my comment mate. But you have a very good point. It's easy making comments from afar. I'm very sure that i would have many different opinions if i was going to HQ every odd weekend. My opinion is based on what i saw on TV this year. I agree Ferdinand has improved as the year has gone on, just IMO we need to be looking for better. It's only my opinion mate. I am often wrong. I can't wait to get back to the land of the living later this year and then i hope to discuss all footballing matters with all you guys at HQ in the coming months.
For me both from what I seen on TV "afar" and at games, is that Anton is never Captain material! He doen't come across as Captain material in interviews either. He has never led the back 4, and as someone has said only does better with a better CB beside him. As a player I reckon his performances were affected by the Terry case, and maybe he will improve next year, but it will be a jump! And a good Captain, Never.
Nuts/Hoopster - With all the banter back & forth, I thought for a moment that the Hoppster was in there making a threesome!
We have already been down this route on another thread and I still stand by Clint but I do fear he may not be a regular next season, however there is one person nobody has mentioned Bobby Zamora and although I do not know him that well, he comes across as the type of personality that could wear the arm band? At least he leads from the front!
Don't agree, BUT if you are right it might put a bit of life into him I always try to look at the postives!
