Yes, Twitter is good for getting quick info, I'm the same as Norway just following various accounts for info...
Gutted about Fer, he was starting to play like the prospect we hoped for. Clearly playing in the central midfield position suits him better. This does present the best opportunity for Taarabt to step and make the no10 position his again. Can he do it consistently and chip in with a few goals? Needs to be hungry to play (not kebabs) and impress for his big money Milan move, but importantly needs to get himself right mentally too (much easier without Redknapp putting him down constantly). Perhaps we should ask DT, as he is an encyclopaedia on all things Taarabt.
It could be worse, at least he should be back before the end of the season, just about. I was expecting six months or so. Plus it is a position we have some cover in.
Is it not 8 after last night? 7 in a row plus 1 before that? But yeah, bans now come in as 2 for 10 cards, and 3 for 15 yellow cards. The 1 game for 5 cards deadline was at New Year I think. If a player gets sent off for 2 bookings in a game then they get a 1 match ban for the red card (assuming they haven't been sent off already this season), but the yellow cards don't count. So if Barton was to get his 10th booking against WBA or Chelsea then he should at the end of the game try and get sent off for a 2nd booking, take a 1 match ban, and come back with 9 bookings against his name. The only drawback would be if he got sent off later in the season he's miss an extra game, but as he'd have saved one here it's worth the risk. If it's WBA and he gets 10 bookings he'll miss Chelsea and Villa. He'd also come back 5 cards away from a 3 game ban, but as you'd only have 5 games left it doesn't really matter except to avoid missing the start of next season. If he gets sent off for 2 yellows in that game, he only misses Chelsea and comes back 6 away from a 3 game ban (with 6 games to play). If it's Chelsea he gets his 10th then he'd miss Villa and West Ham and be safe for next season. If he gets sent off he'd miss Villa and be safe for next season.
Losing Fer leaving us more exposed does raise question behind why Mutch was let go & no one brought in.
i suppose because fer, adel, kranky and,as sb said, probably Vargas could do the same job in there. Whether they can do it as effectively is anybody's guess... now Fer is out surely 1 of the remaining 3 can step up...
Fer is a big loss, especially now when he seems to have been getting so much better in recent games, with one or two exceptions. Apart from his decent shooting, strength, and skill, his aerial strength will be missed in the box, and particularly in the middle of the park. I can't really see Vargas filling his role in central midfield. We need Adel and Sandro to get fully fit to replace both the defense opening skills, and strength Fer gives.
Because The BEAST is ready to come back in!! Well he was a couple of weeks ago before he got sore again.....
Huge blow. Just goes to show what playing people in the right position can do, Philips and Fer were also swapping in and out well together. The threat on the flanks gave them more space which also gave them more time\space. Adel needs to learn from Fer's positioning (obviously not skill), he plays too far away from the striker leaving him isolated and doesn't get into the box enough.
"""" From the Official """ SANDRO is hoping to continue his return to fitness today when he is expected to feature in a behind closed doors friendly against Chicago Fire. The QPR midfielder came through 30 minutes unscathed for the R’s Under-21 side against Brentford on Tuesday afternoon. And the Brazilian aims to step up his return at Harlington against the MLS side. “It is important for me not to rush back,” he told www.qpr.co.uk. "If I am not 100 per cent I could get another injury. “I played against Brentford and I will play again today so slowly I will be ready. “It was very good to be back. I’ve been looking forward playing again, I know have to improve my fitness a bit more but after my first game I feel good and strong. “My knee feels OK, I’m very happy with it. It has been hard work for the past two months. “I know what I have done to get back now; when you get injured you lose conditioning and power, so I have worked hard in the gym to build this back up again. I feel I am nearly there now. “After another week I think I will have improved my fitness even more and I will be ready.” *Please note that the friendly with Chicago Fire is behind closed doors and not open to the public Read more at http://www.qpr.co.uk/news/article/s...qpr-friendly-2264352.aspx#4ozhg4cHEfRlGu53.99 """"""""""""""""""
Scored their winner maybe? Official: """"""" by @QPRFC Adel Taarabt, Eduardo Vargas and Mauro Zarate feature in QPR’s friendly defeat to Chicago Fire ... SEVERAL senior players featured for QPR in a friendly against Major League Soccer’s (MLS) Chicago Fire at Harlington on Thursday. Alex McCarthy, Armand Traore, Eduardo Vargas, Adel Taarabt and Mauro Zarate all started, alongside Sandro – a second-half substitute for the Under-21s on Tuesday – who stepped up his return from injury with 60 more minutes under his belt. Quincy Amarikwa’s 15th-minute strike proved the match-winner for the MLS side, whilst a goal-line clearance from Cole Kpekawa’s header denied Rangers a second-half equaliser. Vargas created the R’s first opportunity after nine minutes. His delicate free-kick was met by Zarate, but his header wasn’t powerful enough to seriously trouble Sean Johnson in the Fire goal. Seconds later, Sandro made a well-timed block to deny former Wigan Athletic midfielder Shaun Maloney getting a shot away from 12 yards. It was the Americans who made the breakthrough, though. Amarikwa burst onto Harry Shipp’s defence-splitting pass before coolly rounding McCarthy to tap into an empty net. Rangers threatened a quick response when Taarabt found Michael Petrasso, whose first-timed shot was palmed away by Johnson. Petrasso was next to fire an effort on target, shooting straight into Johnson’s arms on the half-hour mark. Chances proved hard to come by in the first half, with Franck Songo’o’s wayward drive from 25 yards, drifting harmlessly wide of McCarthy’s near post five minutes before the break, the closest either side came to adding to the scoreline. Meanwhile, the woodwork denied Fire a second six minutes after the re-start. Michael Stephens found space on the edge of the area, only to see his attempt crash back off the crossbar. The R’s came equally close on the hour-mark. Kpekawa, a first-half substitute for Michael Doughty, climbed highest from Zarate’s inswinging corner but his downward header was cleared off the line. Zarate was next to test the Fire rearguard. The Argentine slalomed through a clutch of bodies before stinging Johnson’s hands with a fierce drive from 18 yards. The woodwork came to their rescue soon after as Jordan Gibbons’ lofted cross bounced back off the top of the crossbar. The R’s youngster was injured in the process, leaving Rangers a man light for the closing quarter. Reece Grego-Cox came close to an equaliser for the depleted R’s, forcing Johnson to acrobatically tip over his looping volley from a tight angle while McCarthy did well to tip over Guly Do Prado’s header at the other end. Rangers almost grabbed a late equaliser but Johnson again stood firm, preventing Zarate’s goal-bound corner from creeping inside his near post to preserve the one-goal margin at full-time. QPR: McCarthy, Gibbons, Sendles-White (Trialist 46), Doughty (Kpekawa 30), Traore, Vargas (Trialist 46), Sandro (Trialist 61), Petrasso, Grego-Cox, Taarabt, Zarate. Subs (not used): Lennox.
