Sat afternoon Grandstand on BBC, when all games kicked-off at 3 p.m. and the results came through on the video-printer one by one (letter- by-letter) around 4:45. Oh, the bloody tension ! Click,click,click...
That sounds about right. I think Bagpuss et al could be on at dinner, or could be on around 3.30 on BBC2 (I'm talking early 80s), just before the children's TV part would start on 1 or 3. Button Moon would be another fave. I remember when C4 was launched and the excited talk of it at school. Only to run home to find a programme about maths and English was on.
