Would have liked to see us get through to the group stage if only to get drawn in a group with at least 1 of Europe's giants. However it wasn't to be and instead of blaming SB I think some of the players on the pitch tonight really let us - and themselves - down with the poor overall level of performances they gave. The team selected was capable of getting us through the tie if they played anything like, but too many didn't perform. Sagbo constantly caught offside, Aluko was woeful, Livermore had his worst game for us to date and even Chester seemed to lack his usual composure. Lokeren were there for the taking, but too many of our players were off colour. :(

We are still a Premier League team and have two domestic cup competitions to take part in. European competition has, for now, gone, move on

Surely posts haven't been removed because they clashed with a particular mods views? Surely not, surely none of the mods on here would be THAT immature?!

no one is happy about going out.
    quite the opposite.
But I can see why SB picked the team he did. Imagine if he put out our first 11... and Thud got crocked for the season... you would all be calling for his head.

Someone once leveled that allegation at me and was wrong (it wasn't me that had deleted them on some occasions), Which mod are you implying has done it this time, because I can't seen any removed.

I am as disappointed as anyone to go out, I have watch City for over 50 years, and it is likely I will never see European football again at the KC.

However the team put out yesterday should have been strong enough to get the result and they didn't. SB is an employee, and it would be a financial disaster if we dropped out of the EPL, so that has to be his priority financially, so he has to utilise the whole squad. The tie was lost in Lokeren IMO, we should have not conceded and should have had an away goal, so we just have to move on.

At the end of the day to have had a taste of European football, a cup final in the space of a year and these have been beyond my wildest dreams.

Lets not play any games then or train because it could happen in the league as well in fact non of our players should leave the house in case they get injured.

Due to football being one of the biggest businesses in the world for the owners and management the rewards for competing in the Europa League are just so little compared to the week in week out of the BPL. Its sad but these cup competitions have been killed by TV subscriptions. No one apart from the fans of that team give two ****s about that competition this goes to show that out of four of our european matches not one of them was aired. I wish is was not like this but its the nature of the beast.

without the excitement of either European games or trying to win the fa or league cup its just going going to be the same old every season just hoping for premier league survival and frankly that is just boring !

    Totally agree.
I hope that Bruce plays a full strength team to beat WBA in the League Cup

Really think last night was a bloody disaster - I think the squad momentum and fighting for places was based on the idea that if you didn't get on the pitch in PL, then you would in EL. Not making it to the group stages has thrown everything up in the air - who is now needed, who is surplus. On paper, we had a very easy path to FA final (bar Sunderland) and therefore European access was almost provided as a gift on a plate. We have spurned that gift, and based on a club of this size, finances etc, that was a terrible mistake in terms of momentum, feelgood factor for team and fans alike, for higher profile domestic and international exposure, for attracting better players - all has been lost and it could be your grandkids that will have to hear ad nauseum about the one occasion that li'l ole Hull made it into a European competition way back in 2014 and couldn't progress to the glamour end of the competition, such was the strength of the mighty Lokeren of Belgium.

From a wonga standpoint the EL is a non starter. A top 10 PL finish is worth far far more to the club.

Yes being in europe and going to other countries is good fun for us fans but we saw last night what european football is all about. Poor ref - player diving - time wasting etc etc. Much frustration.

It could well be a blessing in the long run. For sure it will be if we finish in the top 10. Thankfully we now have to move onto what matters most................. the PL and 3 points @ Villa on sunday.

    The positives:
We are out of a **** competition, no one wants to be in.
I won't have to endure Blunderside, interviewing fans from European sides.
The penny has finally dropped that Sone Aluko is a greedy little ****. He has a two free men in the penalty box and goes for a shot instead of squaring it.

    The negatives:
A garbage performance against an ordinary side who should have been ripped to bits.
    Bruce's team selection.....WTF
    Lose of revenue....
Sone Aluko and Sagbo, who would want them after witnessing that?

    That could happen in training.
    Should we not risk training?

What I did notice last night is that we never contested never mind won any 50/50s in the final third.....TBH I don' think the players wanted it...Perhaps examples of other sides struggling in the prem league after playing six games Thursday/ Sunday weighed heavy on their mind.

Which is what matters most. ^^^^^ this.

    Agreed.

    Agreed.

Glad you do. Thankfully you are in the very small minority who think that. Maybe even on your own.

Why ? We have 2 domestic cups to go after still. So much hissy fitting over last night. Not the end by far. We shall be back - just like we said back in 2010 after PL relegation.

I think that last night will give everyone a kick up the backside. But yes the coc has to be our best route back into europe. With 6 PL teams gone - 5 more that will go and the PL/CL big guns not that bothered another visit to Wembley is not out of the question especially with another kind draw.

The biggest lesson that many will have learned last night is that ""an away goal"" is vital in europe when it comes to knockout ties.

It would have put this club more on the map had we been playing some bigger European names, as it is this European outing didn't really increase our profile much at all.

    I'm gutted.

We've had a taste of the PL & although I appreciate where we are & how far we've come, I'm not a great lover of it. When people say "become an established PL team" do they mean start every season with the target of staying up or progressing to finish top 10? We've not got the depth within the club (support, infrastructure, financial clout) to ever be pushing for top 6. I'd rather be competing in the lower leagues than making up the numbers in the PL.

To qualify for Europe again we need to win a trophy, something we've failed to do in 110 years. Last night the opportunity to create more history for the club was lost through, IMO, a team selection & performance (radio commentary based opinion) that lacked guts & ambition.

Surely if we are to become "established" as a club progression means doing so, in not just the PL, but all the competitions we enter. The ones we have a chance of winning, like the one last night. We need to progress in the FA Cup & the League Cup & win them if we are ever to have nights in Europe again. For me these are now the priority this season.

Waving goodbye to the PL, if it happened, would have been a small price to pay for progressing through a European Competition. We are what we are, we'll never win the PL, it took us 110 years to get to a cup final. Fulham & 'Boro have both reached the final of the Europa in the last 10 years, why not us? We could of at least given it a go rather than play safe for PL money.

Last night should have mattered more to people who had the chance to make a difference.

    I'm gutted
