If the Scot Murray's a bit anti-English, it'd be simply par for the course for peoples who've battled against 'the Realm' over centuries - and all too often come unstuck! It's both natural and understandable that the French, Germans, Spaniards, Scots, Welsh and others quietly enjoy seeing the English turned over from time to time. (Ironically given the history, the Irish don't seem quite as bothered... might have something to do with their tendency to get up in our faces when opportunities arise!)

Having said this, whilst such basic urges for national parities might influence the dour Scot syndrome, I doubt this would be enough to cause Murray's evident personality issues. For me (and I made the same point on here last year), it has to have more to do with his broken childhood and the Dunblane factor. Who among us could possibly expect full rounded development after seeing so many schoolmates murdered before our very eyes?

The fact that the Murrays were able to re-focus their lives and get one of their number to international prominence without a word of the tragedy, is nothing short of amazing. For this reason, he can whinge, whine and ultimately choke all he likes, I will always have every sympathy for Andy Murray.

What a family. Come on Andy-boy, let's chalk the big one up for posterity mate!!

Yes, clever, Brix. You nearly had me too! <laugh>.

I'll say this much - if Andy beats Federer today, he deserves all the adulation that no doubt will be coming his way

The premier sporting event of the afternoon is underway, the British Grand Prix. Very exciting, Silverstone a stunningly fast track, and it's not raining! Not looking good for the Brits at the moment, and one of Tonys cars out.
In a laboured analogy to the tennis, Alonso though not in the Federer league of greatness, is obviously the best driver around, leading in far from the best car. It's only in Britain that this is not recognized.

    Great racing Hamilton v Alonso!
