Some of those make JV's look quite serious! Evry opposition wum can have a gif brought up within minutes of a player from their own club feigning injury. They really should think before they type!
So City v Sunderland at the weekend. Who do we want to win, given a City victory will mean at least 6th gets European football next year? For many reasons, come on you mackems. (They'll get thrashed though).
I'll be supporting City purely for the fact that the list of worse teams than us with bigger trophy counts this decade is already too long
My knees are absolutely ruined! Smashed them against the chair infront of me after my cousin decided I had to give him a piggy back once we scored the 3rd . What a European night though, I thought we were dead and buried once they got their goal, I don't think we tested the keeper properly until that point either so it was looking like a glum knockout of the Europa. Up pops my boy Eriksen D) and then Ade's resurgence continues. Soldado was lucky not to be sent off, that was a straight, blatant elbow but the Dnipro player completely overreacted, just like Vertonghen to Zozolu's (sp?) head butt though the amount of times they fell over and play acted, it was somewhat justice and revenge that Jan done the same, NOT that I condone it though. Crowd were excellent, it was like the WHL of old and it got really emotional at half time for JD's farewell along with the applause on 23 minutes for the young Spurs fan that died recently. Great night overall, was my cousin's birthday so it turned out a great present from myself to get him the ticket . OH and by the way, I thought Fryers looked far better than Rose. Hope he gets more chances if he can repeat that sort of display.
I don't think Lloris got enough credit for his performance last night. He's been so good recently. I've been one to moan about his kicking as well as other aspects of his game, but he's been in excellent form over the last month or so.
Very true, Roo. Had long periods with nothing to do, then had to make some very smart saves when he was called upon. Hung out to dry for their goal by some awful defending, though the delivery was good. Saved by the post on one occasion, though.
As someone who doesn't see you 'live' very often I thought you were generally poor, a brilliant 20 minutes in the 2nd half where the game was won but too often when they had 8, 9 & 10 behind the ball there was no invention, personally I thought only Adebayor, Eriksen, Sandro and Lloris came out of the match with any real credit, though to his credit Soldado worked hard and never hid. The outstanding performers on the night were the fans, the support was first rate and even when the game was a struggle never waivered. The last time I was at the lane I saw Bale, VDV and Modric play, and the invention and movement were a joy to behold, I am sorry to say that this current batch are nowhere near that level (I know you dont need me to tell you this). But I enjoyed my visit as usual, and was pleased to see a win good luck for the rest of the season.
Funny you should bring those up the names of those 4 players. I was just about to post something about how they need to be the "spine" of our team at the moment. Lloris is in fine form providing as much reassurance as possible. Sandro is excellent at taking pressure off of the defence, and will give confidence to the likes of Dawson and Vertonghen when he plays Eriksen is the only one capable of producing some creativity for Adebayor Adebayor seems to be scoring for fun at the moment, and is our only reliable goalscorer at present. Everyone else who plays, needs to be fitted around this lot. - And a few more need to step up, as you say!!
Will we be unloading any of these recent purchases or are we truly lumbered. We are about to go into March and these "big buys" should have gelled by now and obviously haven't! A left back, left winger and a proven goalscorer are urgently required as far as I can see! From where,I wonder.......
I'd be very disappointed if Eriksen did not start against Cardiff. Eriksen was brilliant when he needed to be after a so-so start. His problem this year is that we've played him on the left when he's a #10. As a LM he leaves plenty to be desired, though he's shown he's the player after Ade who can create the most goals. You'd think playing him in the center would be a simple choice, but it's complicated by a competing plan of playing our group of strong deep lying mids, including Dembele, Paulinho, Bentaleb and now Sandro (formerly Capoue). TBF Paulinho has looked reasonably good as a central attacking player. What looks like a better plan now, I would think, would be to start Eriksen to play with Ade in a 4-4-1-1, along with Lennon, Sandro, Paulinho and Dembele, maybe with Dembele on the left. The problem there is that it leaves out Bentaleb, Sherwood's favorite player.
