True but at the same time. City and Chelsea still have pretty good squads. But really its the TOP teams in the EPL that have dropped not the overall league.

And you would have to say the Middle Clubs are better than ever. Spurs, Everton, Southampton etc..

 

Those middle clubs are better than the middle clubs 10 years ago used to be no doubt... but whether they've improved significantly more than other country's middle teams is impossible to prove... because our middle teams never play their middle teams. Middle teams only ever play in their own bubble against teams only in their own country.

There is no subjectivity. The aim is to attain the most points by the close of the season. You earn points by winning/drawing more than your competitors and losing less. If you manage to gather more points than any other club in a season, then you are in fact the more successful club and as such better than the rest. Should it come down to goal difference, then yes, the team that finishes with the greater tally is obviously the better. It's a club/squad that wins or loses a league or cup, not a couple of individuals.

To have this view would also have to suggest that you also think that every team who wins a football match deserves that win.

I don't think that's true. Therefore the team with the most one at any point in a season is not necessity top deservingly. Quite often they are. But not always

 

Nope, for one game maybe. But over the course of the whole season, the team that wins it deserves the title.

 

Why? If you can accept one game can be undeserving then there's no reason why a season of 38 games couldn't be. Accepting 1 game but dismissing a season doesn't deem logical to me, but hey ho.

If team A finished on 30 wins and 90 points with all deserved wins...and team B finished on 30 wins and 90 points and a higher GD but with one thoroughly undeserved win (eg. Of the standards of Uruguay vs Ghana) then according to your 'logic' you'd say that team B did actually deserve the title more than team A and anyone saying team A was more deserving was illogical and talking 'bollox'?

 

Well in that scenario you're just highlighting the one game that was undeserved. I'm talking about over 38 games, it's highly unlikely that they are all going to be 'undeserved'.

 

I already said it's unlikely and won't happen often. But it's not impossible.
