Emmanuel Adebayor ✔ @E_Adebayor Hey guys, today was my first day back training with the first team. Good to be back and feeling good! Have a great day everyone! That's ^ from his Twitter account, apparently. Maybe he is in with a shout for this game's bench? Long shot for a start? Friedel; Naughton, Kaboul, Chiriches, Fryers; Lamela, Sandro, Holtby, Chadli; Defoe, Adebayor? Kane's probably a better bet right now, though.
I can't see it happening but I'd definitely be in favour of us sending a youth team with a couple of players on the fringes of the first team. Midweek game in Russia? **** that, so long as we win our home games and pick up a point or so away against Tromso or Sheriff then we'll be fine anyway. Gomes; Chiriches, Kaboul, Fryers, Rose; Bentaleb, Sandro; Lennon(is he back then?), Holtby, Coulthirst; Kane. Get McEvoy and the likes on the bench too.
Not sure how many of them are listed in our European squad, though. Off the top of my head, Kane, Fryers, Coulthirst and Stewart certainly are (given they played in the competition already) whilst Dombaxe, Lancaster, Fredericks, Dawkins, Miles and Archer have squad numbers so they may be included as well.
http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleague/season=2014/clubs/club=1652/index.html Squad's at the bottom, but I don't think it includes all of the B players, which is the youngsters, basically. No Gomes, bizarrely. Archer, Miles, Dombaxe, Stewart and Dawkins are all there, though.
And the weather today in Makhachkala, Russia is partly cloudy, 26°C with a zero chance of rain. Tomorrow's forecast promises similar, but slightly cooler weather. Top temperature during the game will be around 17°C.
Gylfi should be in shorts and a t-shirt, he comes from a country where it was possible to build an ice hotel!
CHANGE OF VENUE Thanks Inda, but can we have the weather for Moscow....because thats where we're playing! We've been spared the further trip to Dagestan (2hrs), Anzhi are not playing home games in Makhachkalala because of 'unrest' in the area." WHY ANZHI PLAY EUROPEAN FIXTURES AT SATURN STADIUM UEFA banned Anzhi from hosting European fixtures in Dagestan, where their home stadium is, for the 2013/2014 season on June 19. The region has been troubled politically, economically, and by religious violence, contributing to Uefa's concerns about local security. The governing body believes the risk of violence at a high-profile football match to be too high, particularly given the number of explosions and shoot-outs is greater there than in other areas of Russia and Europe. 'The UEFA Emergency Panel came to this decision after having carefully examined and evaluated the current security situation in the North Caucasus and notably in Dagestan, and taking into account the whole range of circumstances as well as the warnings issued by various governments,' UEFA said. The clue in the picture is the gold leaf topped building the players are in front of, if that was in war torn Makhackalala it would have been removed and cashed in at the local toot merchant a long time ago! must be worth a few AK-47's! (Spurlock, no, not that sort of AK-47! )
Mostly sunny, highs of 44°F (7°C) and lows of 35°F (2°C), with virtually no chance of rain, apparently. Sounds ok, considering.
It's the Tromso game where we'll be talking ice hotels. Sure hope we've won the group by then. I hope Paulinho wasn't even on the plane to Moscow, but I guess he will have been. AVB has his views and that's fair enough. He has to deliver results to back those views. If we fail to get top 4 or a trophy this season like last, it will be a relative failure, though I guess last season overall we did pretty much as our status suggests we should.
