Without doubt King is the only current Spurs player worthy of 'legend' status, and I'd have him in my all-time Spurs XI. But, VDV is magic, and I jes luv magic.
Instead of saying favourite, I think it's maybe better to think who would we miss the most, if he went? I would normally go for Ledley; but unfortunately, he just doesn't play enough games to be THAT vital to the way the team performs. Sure, we miss him when he's not there - but he's not there a lot of the time at the moment. For me, despite all the antics, Modric is the player we would least want to lose.
Agree about Bale. He's not been all that impressive for a while. And when a player's danger stems largely from pace AND they're a bit fragile it makes you wonder if we should grab any £40m offers that come our way (not that they will now, obviously). The year we finished fourth we had awesome wingers. Now the same players are just not doing it. Sorry - I can't believe I'm moaning. I'll stop now.
Baring injuries it would be king but I have chosen Walker because he's made us stop relying on the super slow charlie as a full back and is quite a handful going forward.
It would be Ledley for me, if he was able to play more often. However, I have to go with the player who I believe has had the greatest impact for us, and that is Bale. His tracking-back to make vital tackles or defensive headers, his devastating pace on the left-wing, his superb technique, his composure and range of passing, his important goals, plus the fact that he can get you out of your seat when ever he gets the ball and goes on one of his runs - all of these things make him my favourite player.
Agree with those saying they think Bale has gone a bit stale (sorry for the rhyme). Hasn't impressed me yet this season the way I know he can, which is unusual.
Ahhhh but Benoit Assou-Ekotto is the only one who got referred to by an acronym, now that's favouritism.
Ledley by a huge margin for me, given his whole career to us and as someone mentioned, given his KNEES to us! Anyone else in his condition would have probably retired by now, he chooses to go through the pain barrier to play for us. I'd personally give him an on going contract until he decided to retire, even if we do only get 10-15 games a season from him, my loyalty to the man is too great, plus them 10-15 games would mean our chances of winning improve drastically! Special mentions would of course go to Bale, Benny, Modric (when he's not being a twat!) and Daws. I think give it a couple of years and Sandro, Kaboul, Rafa and Walker will also be in with a great shout.
