I agree, but I can't remember ever putting my back out and cutting my knee on the seat in front before whilst celebrating a goal! And after so many years as a Saints fan I think that was the moment I began to believe that we were embarking on something quite special. That is why I remember that game :)

If you were at Millwall when we won 3-2 then you would have probably ended up with a broken neck! Every Saints fan went mental when Rickie converted the 2nd penalty. Ah, fond memories.

TSS - was the Newcastle 2-1 the Matty game? The other 2-1 vs Newcastle I loved at The Dell was the comeback - Maddison then Tiss in injury time. Not sure who that was under though...don't think it was he who shall not be named. Also the Valentines 4 goaler against Liverpool. Again, can't remember which manager that was!

Newcastle win was brantfoot right?

I turned the radio off at 2-1 down in that game and went food shopping in disgust. I turned on the radio at 5pm and went absolutely mental in Waitrose car park in Winton, Bournemouth...yep that was me, shouting "get in there", "we are going up" and "I love Rickie Lambert" to bemused shoppers....

I didn't know there was a Waitrose in winton.

We'll probably already be down by then.

Favourite football games have got to be Pompey v Vitoria in 2008, Pompey v Watford in 2006 (wasn't a particularly good game, but it was my first win), Pompey v Sunderland in 2009 and the FA Cup Final in 2008.

Strachan - 4-0 against Spurs in Fa cup

Adkins - walsall

Pocchetino - 3-1 against Liverpool

There was a 4-3 win at the Dell against Norwich(?) that I remember loving as a kid. Several late goals Can't remember who was manager though.

Have seen loads of great games, but judging on sheer joy alone, I would have to go for the last game at The Dell. That feeling of inevitability about it being Le Tiss...was so pleased for him.

Honourable mentions for the JPT (Pardew) and beating Liverpool (MP).

How old are you? Roughly when you talking?

The year we we t down from the Prem (2005) was 4-3 against Norwich and that was under twitchy.

Actually Fran that is a great shout. One of the first games I can remember being close to tears. Some moments make me think there is a super power out there making. Sure ocassionally the right things happen and when Le Tiss scored that last goal at The Dell, was one of those moments.

Nope, not that one. I'm 32. Game was in the early 90s at The Dell. My memory tells me there were about 3 or 4 goals in the last 5 minutes but that's probably not quite right. Possibly a Ken Monkou winner? I'm now going to try and look it up.

EDIT: It wasn't Norwich, it was Ipswich. 13th March 1993. Branfoot was manager.

You get to an age when it takes 2 or 3 people to remember something...and usually, by the time you sort it out, the memory is nothing like you thought. Conversations consist of 'you remember, tall bloke, dark hair', used to go out with that blonde woman from Eastenders or was it Corrie, won an award or something....but the triumph when you remember. :)

This is always a tricky question because moments/spells in games and the importance of the result often cover up some pretty average performances and drab games. I'd never want to watch that Millwall match again, but the memories of celebrating those two penalties will live with me for a long time.

So with the aim of picking matches which had a great 90 minutes

Chris Nicholl

1989 Southampton 4 Liverpool 1 (If football was cocaine then this is the 1st high i've been trying to replicate ever since)

Gordon Strachan

2003 Southampton 4 Tottenham 0 (Embarrassingly one sided, If Leeds 7-0 win over Saints in the 70s had an equal)

Alan Pardew

2010 Southampton 5 Huddersfield 0 (Off the back of a 5-1 win against Walsall, two more impressive and dominant matches back to back I have not seen)

Nigel Adkins

2011 Southampton 4 Watford 0 (Boro & Ipswich away run it close)

Mauricio Pochettino

2013 Southampton 3 Man City 1 (Impressed with the press)

My favourite Farnborough game was probably Hampton & Richmond v Farnborough in around 2009 ish or Windsor & Eton in the FA Cup in 2009 as the weather was nice, Windsor itself was nice and the match was quite enjoyable (not often you hear chants of "It's just like watching Brazil!") at Conference South level.

Honourable mention to Eastleigh earlier this season that despite their stadium being a pedestrian death trap, they took song requests which was awesome.
