Watched Top Gun Maverick today with my little boy as my wife's taken our daughter to London for the night and I thought it'd be a good lads film for us.

Never seen the original and I was iffy about it because I don't like Tom Cruise much but damn, not only did it make me like the guy again I felt like not only had I seen the original it was one of my favourite films.

Just a perfect action film. Old school style but with all the benefits of modern technology. Loved every minute.

I'm ideologically opposed to Top Gun and would never watch the sequel, but it is good to see an old school film - just a piece of entertainment - absolutely trounce the modern 'agenda before story' Hollywood product.

Exactly yeah the only agenda was making a cracking action film. Refreshing.

Watched it at the cinema and got to say it was ****ing fantastic on the big screen with the surround sound. I think it's perfect mixture of the action and the soundtrack. Like action movies used to be! 80's action movies no bullshit, no massively engaging story or characters but does what ya want in an action movie.

I like Tom Cruise the actor in the things I watch him in, questionable as a bloke with all that Scientology nonsense.

Watched The Menu (Disney) tonight, great film. Razor sharp skewering of pretentious foodie types, dark, funny and very much its own thing.
Watched it. Loved it, Weird, but I like film that stretch the standard narrative

Aye every time anything happened I was thinking I wish I'd seen this at the cinema. Still had a great sense of scale and speed on my modest tv but yeah made for the big screen.

He's the last movie star.

Ironically, a gun was never fired by an F-15 in TopGun

The scene in the Graveyard (Gettesburg) was fantastic to the point of inspirational. I'm a massive Denzil fan. Watched Dejau Vu (again) this week and Man on Fire (again) is on my radar. Sad I know

Pleased to see Fraser get an Oscar tonight. Yeoh's frantic playing of the race card in the build up to winning hers leaves a bit of a bad taste when there was no need for it.

Short Round wins an Oscar. Who'd have thought that in the mid eighties :)

The Whale won an Oscar then.

Brendan Fraser, out in the cold for years, Hollywood turns its back on him, comes back, wins and Oscar for his performance.
