Ah! I wondered who the ex goalkeeper cross dresser was that keeps coming in! Less of your lip an all SD!
Yes I know SD.....sorry. I suppose if they made films factually correct about history then they wouldn't be interesting. I take an interest in the two Zulu wars and the second world war. It was an English regiment which defended Rorke's Drift yet the film makers depicted a Welsh regiment, strange. But it is an exciting film nonetheless. My favourite fantasy film is Jason and the Argonauts especially when Talos comes to life. Also Thor, magnificent film. The mighty God of Thunder who could beat any of your favourite super heroes, all of you.
Has anyone seen "Running Scared"? It's a film that not many people I've spoken to have ever heard of, let alone seen. Again, for those who like their Gangster style movies, it's an underrated film, IMO. - Definitely worth a watch. I can't believe no one's mentioned "Leon" yet either.(including me)! What a movie I'm going to get a grilling for this comment, but one film I've always felt has been overrated is "Pulp Fiction". I just don't get the fascination with it and why people cream their pants over it so much.
No Roo. I can get a bit soppy over The Sound of Music and Popeye was a good musical. They're the only two musicals I can watch. Christopher Plummer is a total wimp. "I'm not carrying that bloody fat kid over the mountains." he said about Kim Karath the youngest Von Trapp daughter. Christ,he was only 35 years old when he did that so they found a slim girl and padded her up. It was only a few yards as well, what a ****er.
I am a history buff and get angry about, well any Mel Gibson film, so share your views on that. Zulu works as a film though, if you can divorce yourself from the inconsistencies.
As this seems to have turned into a favourite film thread, a couple more old favourite. The French Connection, The Outlaw Josey Wales, Dirty Harry. Much more recently, I thought The Kings Speech was a brilliant film.
What's tickled you there SD? He hated working with those kids because he was the experienced Shakespeare actor. He said working with Julie Andrews was like being hit on the head with a flowery greetings card. He called the film The Sound of Mucous. He hated it.
Well, it STARTED as favourite film ( singular) and a bit about yourself. But seems to have drifted into more of an all your favourite films, thread.
Ok,I'm 190 cms tall(6 ft 3 inches) with dark brown hair and brown eyes. I'm circumcised and I like women.
I would argue that the "factual" debacle of Braveheart exceeds the comparatively minor problems with Zulu by a significant factor! Yes there are problems with Zulu, but there is a broad element of truth in there too. Braveheart is just another of Gibson's anti-British rants, and don't get me started on The Patriot!
Gibson was actually in Zulu so that's where he maybe found his inspiration to write a load of crap in Braveheart.
The historical detail in Braveheart was mixed up but the essentials and spirit of the story was correct. Unlike 1984 where the whole point was changed by switching the ending. How is it anti-British btw?
