Monty and then barry siddall. My name is C Dodds and when the fullwell end sang siddall all my mates sang cdodds. Never forgot it
We've had some cracking keepers over the years tbh. In my lifetime....Monty, Siddall, Turner, Tony Norman, Given (loan), Sorensen, Gordon, Pickford just to name a few, probably a few I've missed out on....Patterson. One of those positions I've always felt we were well equipped in. Then we ended up with Lee Camp.
Contrary to my username, my favourite would be Tommy Sorensen. Gordon definitely our most underrated though.
I’d wager anyone from my age group or 10 year either side will say Tommy. I’ll never forget that moment. Folk around me backs turned and hands in their heads. I knew he was saving it and stood with my arms aloft. Still went ****ing berserk when he saved it. Eat a hot **** Poppins ya prick.
Chris Turner was keeper when I first went. Tottenham away in the cup springs to mind. Therefore I'll always have a soft spot. However favourite is Sorensen. Joined after Wembley heartache, won promotion then the 2 successful premier league seasons. Rolls Royce of a keeper.
This...still got my Midland Bank £5 receipt from the Chris Turner Appeal Fund which was set up by the club to buy him back from Man Utd. Obviously never happened but the club said the money would be put towards their very next signing at the time which I'm sure was Marco Gabbiadini.
Monty my first Safc hero -- and if there was ever going to be any future doubt, it was eliminated on 5th May 1973
We've had a few. Monty,Siddall, Sorensen, Given (loan). Chris Turner - special mention for the 5 a side National win on Sportsnight
Oh Tommy Tommy Followed by the poominator, I also liked Craig Gordon. as eccentric and error prone as he was I loved Lionel Perez, that double save against Sheff Utd in the play offs was absolutely incredible
