Agree with Sid - has to be Manchester for me - Smiths/New Order/Stone Roses through to Oasis in my formative years although the city also spawned the evil that is Simply Red so maybe there is a better choice!
Got to be Madchester for me too, The Stone Roses are probably my favourite band ever, unfortunately never saw The Mondays, but caught Black Grape on their first tour, at the UEA LCR, Bez at his maraca shaking best,a mad gig! Love the city too, Mrs Welly's from there, so I often get to go up there and go out on the lash, really friendly people! Enjoy!
