Forgot...will include new Amy Winehouse song / and or possibly Nirvana's Come as you are as it has been scheduled (alledgely for release)
X-Factor (insert year here) winner's single X-Factor (insert different year here) winner's single X-Factor (insert yet another year here) winner's single...... OK, maybe not. 1. Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas - any version 2. O Little Town - Cliff Richard 3. Little Saint Nick - The Beach Boys Favourite Christmas Album (and one that's been a tradition in my family for years) is John Denver and The Muppets Christmas Album, from 1979.
So speaks the voice of Radio cliche..... Bit of a pointless poll, because Fairytale is going to win. It's a great song, but not really one that captures christmas for me. Whereas, the ones on my list all have a bit of the christmas spirit about them, whether that's comfort (Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas), christian tradition (O Little Town) or festive cheer (Little Saint Nick).
I love Christmas but live in dread of having to listen to that hackneyed old dirge Fairytale of New York. A p*ssed up, toothless trotter and a nasal ginge whiner ruining what would have been a nice musical arrangement makes me want to punch carol singers in the mush. And my don't we all chuckle because they say ar*e and scum bag. Dross. For me I'd go for this top three; Sleigh Ride - The Ronnettes Winter Wonderland (There's only One Kevin Gallen!) - Darlene Love Troika - Prokifiev (always played over anything to do with Christmas or snow - also in Love and Death by Woody Allen. You remember, when he was funny and wasn't a craddle snatching pervert) The best ever non-Christmas tune has to be Killing in the Name by Rage Against the Machine. What ever happened to the toothy northerner that didn't get the Christmas number one? Oh yes, Knock Knock. Who's there? Joe McEldery. Joe McEldery who? That's Showbiz!!
no one voted for Mistletoe and Wine? Oh and the Amy Winehouse track (i want to see at number 1) is called Our day will come. It's a cover of a 1963 track by Ruby and the Romantics
