Used to love Risk as a student. Not played for 40 years now. BiL and his daughter had a major fall out over Trivial . He have the answer as Napoleon, she said it was wrong, should have been Napoleon Bonaparte. They didn't speak until New Year.
She wins the pedant award but what other Napoleon would it have been? Napoleon Solo? Napoleon Dynamite?
I am not saying it is the correct answer, I am saying the BiL could have meant the one from Animal Farm. I have no idea how clever the guy is and I am guessing you don't either, so I am baffled as to how you can judge.
No need to be baffled, if you read the original post it said the DiL insisted the answer was Napoleon Bonaparte, the assumption being it was a question relating to the most famous Napoleon of them all but being a pedant the DiL over-stepped her bounds with the BiL and got all shirty. Who sang Blitzkreig Bop, Sheena is a Punk Rocker and I Wanna Be Sedated? 99.9% would say The Ramones but the official answer is Ramones. Only a pedant would insist on omitting "The" in the majority of circumstances.
^^^^^^ Having said all that if it was for a winning piece (cheese, pie, cake, wedge or whatever) I may be just as much of an a-hole as the DiL.
What about them? They are called The The, it's not as if they are often mistakenly called The The The is it? Did I just pop in?

A couple of golf courses in Dublin called Grange GC and Castle GC and frowned upon if you put a "The" in front of them which I do regularly when members are about
She may not be the DiL but she is a DiL nonetheless, whose DiL is of no concern to me. I do not stand corrected.
Point of information: At the time of the TP crisis she wasn't a DiL. But she then became one. P's in law pegged so now she ain't one.
