I've done Octoberfest on multiple days over 3 trips and it is noticeably different.

Lowenbrau brewed locally is just so nice.

German lagers in general are really good in my experience.

I always buy imported beers, if it says brewed under license on the can I'm not buying it.

I noticed it years ago where I'd buy my usual beer and wonder why it didn't taste right, I then noticed this trend happening where they brewed under license which is just going cheap, so you're just getting bang average British lager with a Spanish or German label on it. San Miguel was a good example it tastes nothing like the Spanish stuff. If I want a Spanish beer I want a Spanish beer not some ****e brewed in Northampton.

Absolutely bang on.

I did notice recently that Boston lager in bottles had started to be brewed under licence but it's still ok. For now.

The Brooklyn stuff isn't. It's a lot more expensive though.

It's a sign of a company cashing in on the brand and not giving a **** about the consumer. I thought Mahou had done it as it wasn't as strong but they've just brewed it for the UK market and it's still made in Madrid.
 
All of the above a wid.

Not a great fan of Tanglefoot though, I prefer Golden Champion, Golden Glory, Blanford Fly and Poachers choice of the Badger range.

Adnams Ales are also top drawer.

Got to lay off the craft and go back to Ale!
