The young 'uns may not believe this but I have been to a couple of first division (now PL) games at... Carlisle United! Not sure what things are like these days but back then Brunton Park must have been the only senior ground in the country where you could stare out a truly bucolic scene complete with cows and hay stacks while also watching your team play at the highest level in English football. Wierd! The worst experience back then was undoubtedly Oxford United's Manor Ground and the mindless oiks from the adjacent estates that used to occupy it. It never ceased to amaze me that such a shack of a ground and tribe of hooligans occupied the city of dreaming spires etc. There was also a river next to the away end where some guy in a punt used to rescue balls that had missed the target! Bringing things up to date, my trip to the Riverside last year probably gave me a preview of what QPRs ground will be like in the future assuming Fernadez continues with his project. This was the first of the new style stadia in England as I recall and I must admit I didn't mind it at all - great facilities and a good view for everyone.
