I'll be another one showing their age, but watching your team between the ages of, say, 10-14 was more fun then when you're an adult. Anyway, here goes:-
    Gurr
    Peach McGrath Gabriel Benali
    Holmes Williams Armstrong
    Le Tissier
    Channon Davies

Ask me again tomorrow, and it'll probably be different.

It would be interesting for someone on here with a bit of time to run through all selections and produce a favourite of favourites in each position....

I will not accept that Jermaine Wright was good or bad enough to play two positions ... ;)

Here's the best ever and second best ever team, as selected by TSW members, back in early 2009. There was a bit of confusion between best ever and favourite, by several members, if I remember correctly. I know because I reminded them each time they nominated/voted, and still some extremely odd nominations/votes came in. Nevertheless, these teams are pretty good ones. There was always some contention that the second best team would beat the best one more often than the other way round. By the way, UP means Utility Player:

    Representing the A-Team

    Manager: Lawrie McMenemy

    GK: Peter Shilton

    RB: Ivan Golac
    CB: Mark Wright
    CB: Michael Svensson
    LB: Wayne Bridge

    RM: Terry Paine
    CM: Alan Ball (C)
    CM: Matthew Le Tissier
    LM: David Armstrong

    RF: Mick Channon
    LF: Ron Davies

    Subs
    GK: Tim Flowers
    DF: Ken Monkou
    MF: Rod Wallace
    ST: Steve Moran
    UP: Nick Holmes

    and representing the B-Team

    Manager: Ted Bates

    GK: Antti Niemi

    RB: Jason Dodd
    CB: Claus Lundekvam
    CB: Dave Watson
    LB: Mark Dennis

    RM: Danny Wallace
    CM: Steve Williams
    CM: Jimmy Case (C)
    LM: Chris Marsden

    RF: Kevin Keegan
    LF: Marian Pahars

    Subs
    GK: Kelvin Davis
    DF: Mick Mills
    MF: Ronnie Ekelund
    ST: Alan Shearer
    UP: Peter Osgood

5 of mine in team A. Of course some 'favourites' will always be quirky and personal to the individual.

5 of mine too. I seem to be the only one who picked Ian Turner as a favourite (not best). I watched highlights from 76 recently and it's easy to forget how many saves he made in that game. That's why he gets the nod.
