I dont remember him being in sparkling form when he got injured, werent we stuggling to beat MK Dons.
Dont know, but all I can say is that when Diakite started playing everybody on here forgot about Faurlin, thats how much he was missed.
That is a fair comment, but to pass forwards you need someone running into space, such as Routledge was on that occasion. If there is no one running into space a forward pass gifts the ball to the opposition, ball retention is the better option under those circumstances. I believe that Warnock's formation last season was designed was Faurlin in mind as much as Taarabt. It got the best out of both of them.
The Samba Diakite thread "Cant see where he,ll fit in next season. Bench warmer me hopes ." But you might have been referring to Faurlin to be fair
Yes. I was concerned pre-season and in the first few matches (probably Brixton's fault!!!!), but his tackling, ball retention, tidying up and continual winning of virtually every header in midfield soon convinced me. His injury may work in a favour (assuming he returns to his previous form), as we would be facing a struggle to hold on to him. Many supporter of other clubs I talk to also rate him very highly. That said I do understand your reservations, I did share them. He will win you over mate.
I'll answer that one - yes. I seem to remember there were roumors around november/December that either Arsenal or Liverpool were watching him - can anyone verify?
Can't verify but I heard rumours that ManU were following him. Ale was definetely PL standard for me. He was at the top of PL tacking and passing stats. Hope he comes back as good from injury as Jamie has done, it's tough.
Ruislip. I don't understand your point of view. He aint Zico, agreed but his is the most technically gifted player at the club. He finds space.. retains possession. He would grace a bigger club. Enjoy him while you can at Loftus Road.. we'll get a lot of money for him one day if he comes back the same player.
Pete, I do understand Ruislip's point of view, I just don't agree with it. While I don't think of Ale as a marmite player I have spent a lot of time pointing out the unseen tidying up and ball retention to those around me at matches. I didn't really appreciate Makelele as a great player at Chelsea, maybe it is the same thing?
He would go up in my estimation if he when in forward positions he made the most of the oppurtunities that came to him. That will only happen if his shooting improves.I cant believe that past and present managers have not targeted that aspect of his game as a weakness that needed working on.
Very much this. Tackling and distribution aside, he's often given the ball in really tight areas and nearly always has the skill and composure to find a way out. And I agree Pete, if he comes back the same player somebody'll cough up big bucks for him.
