I'm not condoning punting it long. My point is that SB might have thought we needed a 'spoiler' in midfield considering the quality of the opposition and our depleted midfield options. You might be right that Evans could have done that job while keeping our passing game flowing, but Bruce hasn't been fully confident about playing Evans all season for whatever reason. The cheap and brainless conclusion to make is that Alex Bruce gets in for reasons of nepotism, but I personally think that is disrespectful to a manager who has shown great passion and professionalism since taking the job on.
The people who since Tuesday have done nothing but bitch about picking Alex Bruce in midfield. There have been some appalling examples of abuse. What on earth made you think I was referring to you?
This is a message board, we discuss what we think were wrong and right decisions and Brucey hasn't been abused for those decisions*, they've just been questioned. *Other than by Bob and Erik obviously.
I didnt mention this thread either. Im just sick of knicker wetting twerps constantly harping on about the team selections when we're having an extraordinary season. Did they watch us under Mark Hately?
Anyway, isnt that what I'm doing? Im discussing and debating that anyone pissing their pants about a defender playing centre mid through neccessity needs to get over it.
Personally I don't mind Alex Bruce in centre midfield in certain games like Millwall, Burnley and Huddersfield. But at home and against none physical teams we should be playing better passers of a ball.
Some bloody good comments on our team and some bloody daft wreckers who need to do it to kick-start their weekend. We can look at options all day, but Alex Bruce is a decent CB and is not and has never been an effective DM - we have seen it, believe! Evans has been weak at times but he is always in front of AB in this position. Who the **** knows about Fathi (we have not really seen him!), but now is not the time to experiment as SB has to be trusted on this, because as sure as **** he will be judged if it goes tits-up!
echoing my thoughts on the matter exactly. not abusive, not negative, just well put and a perfect reflection of my feelings on the matter. horses for courses it has not been.
Thought Fathi looked excellent when coming on today, pace, passing and could tackle. He would defiantly of scored if Simpson had decided to look up and play a simple ball across the keeper instead of running to the conner flag in the 85 minute!
