Hoilett would be good and is the only player who has shown quality at Blackburn this season IMO.

I think Fletcher from Wolves will be picked up by a Premier League club. He may be worth a punt, to be honest. Can't think of any other Wolves player worth having. If Bolton go Mark Davis as mentioned earlier would be quite handy - Petrov is good but we don't need another winger. Can't think of any QPR players I would want.

If Blackpool don't come up I think Tom Ince is a real prospect, albeit another winger. Crainey is also a decent CB. West Ham are reportedly selling Robert Green who might make a good back up to Stockdale if MS is gradually sidelined and Vaz Te might be worth a punt, he certainly can score at Championship level and may be able to do it at Premiership level as well.

Hoilett's contract is up this summer, so would be available on a free transfer.

Hoilett, IMO, has one two ingredients we need: pace and youth. I suspect Andy Johnson is on his way out. I remember back in February AJ was angling for a new contract, but don't remember reading that a contract was offered or signed. So if AJ is on his way out, we'll need a pace player like Hoillet up front to run the diagonals and spread the defenders out.

AJ would have done well to take the two year deal that was on the table instead of holding out for three. Since he's been injured mostly ever since that QPR game I can't see Jol wanting to keep hold of him. No club will be willing now to pay him 45k per week.

Hoilett is out of contract this summer but he would not be free. He is under the age of 23 (21) so we would be required to pay Blackburn compensation but not nearly as much as it would have costed us to sign him if he was under contract. He'd still be worth signing but I suspect the likes of Liverpool/Newcastle will be in for him.

Agreed, the problem with Hoilett is competition from others, not cost.

Isn't Hoilett a lot like Frei, Kaca, Kasami and Dempsey? Or is he a proper striker?

I'd love it if we took a punt on Jordan Rhodes. I know he's been playing in Div 1 but he's got an amazing scoring record.

As several of us said in January, Rhodes would be a great signing if we can get him.

I am a fan of Rhodes, but to buy him would probably be 5mil+,we have Trotta who possibly
is on a par,why not buy an older proved player, costing much less, while we ease Trotta in to
    judge his potential.
We also must be very careful in signing a player around the 30 mark with an injury record,as we
could finish up with another Andy Johnson, who since his arrival has missed over 35% of matches
due to one injury or another.
