Hello Boys & Girls. I was a member of the 606 BBC forum and it's good to see that the a lot old school from back in the day is still going strong and still banging in the winners on here. I thought it's about time I posted a some of my thoughts on here now we are only just over a week away from the greatest sporting spectacle on earth. Champion Hurdle Hurricane Fly, Billy Hills were going 3/1 from 13/8 this morning (do they no something) and I had to have a bit of that even though my original fancy was Zarkander. I think Ruby may make the running on this as there is no pace angle in the race the horse is flexible where tactics are concerned and there is no better man to have on your side. Gold Cup I'm a big fan of Bobs Worth but feel Henderson has overplayed cheltenham this year with regards preps for his horses, I remember when AP came back on Binocular after Punjabi won the CH totally Pissed off that he did not have a run before hand. I backed this horse when it won the hennessey and cant believe it has not run since!!!! Someone help me out here but how many horses have won the GC on the back of one run outside of novice company? Silvianico Conti. I have/ did not buy into this horse all season even after it beat the slow boat Long Run... I dont think Ruby has bought into it either, its no KS but this horse has had the ideal prep for the task ahead and I just feel with its slick jumping he will make them all go and remmeber it has already finished in front of Bob's Worth ( Feltham). Top trainer. 10/1 Nicholls to be top man is an insult enough said......
MTOY-Win(Just) Simonsig-Easiest winner of the festival.Maguire will need a pair of SF bino's to find SS. HF-Lose Quevega-Win
Mtoy - lose to the forgotten horse with some of the best form Dodging Bullets Simonsig- win HF- win but I knowjust have a feeling about binocular (cue the laughs) but really abd my 14/1 looks great Quevega- the horse version of superwomen!!!
Hadn't Sprinter Sacre taken on older horses and beat them by this point Bob? SS deserved the hype last year. I make the comparison to Noland in that like Simonsig he had hosed up in a couple of chases and everyone raved about him. The main point I had to make is that Overturn is a proven battler and not far from the top of the tree over hurdles. Simonsig has impressed all starts except when he really had to battle against Fingal Bay where he lost his only race. I'm happy for everyone to pile into Simonsig, so that it pushes out Overturn's price
Barney, My Tent Or Yours is no shoo-in. He has good form but his Tote Gold Trophy win may be misleading. The race looked a poor renewal on paper and, as a competitive race, it was non-existent- they were strung out like washing at the second last. At 6/4 he is poor value. Jezki has obvious claims, and I should expect River Maigue to run really well- Far West got first run on him last time in a slowly run race, but giving him 9 lbs may have been a very hard task, anyway. As a betting proposition, I think this is a race to watch, but my selection would be Un Atout. He could be anything and may live up to his name by trumping them all. As regards Sprinter Sacre. I don't see a problem. However, if I were Simonsig's owner, he certainly would have one. I'd be saying "Sod Sprinter Sacre. He can do what he likes. I'm going for The Queen Mother and the extra 100k on offer." Let's face it, he was a better hurdler than Sprinter Sacre (and might have won the Champion Hurdle if kept to that sphere)- and his jumping looks just as assured. Quevega's barely worth a comment. You'd have to be a sheep short in the top paddock to oppose her. In The Ch. Hurdle, Grandouet has to have a big chance, but Hurricane Fly will win- if he puts his best foot forward.
Zarkandar has been my fancy for the Champion Hurlde for most of the season but hearing just how bullish Ruby is tonight, coupled with the Fly's record in slow paced races is starting to make me question.
