Look, neither Adkins or Cortese are stupid. They know that Rickie is a Saints legend in the eyes of the fans and hence will not sell unless a much bigger club comes in i.e. a top 4 club.
Hmm, maybe January 2018..? Even then I'd doubt it. Otherwise, you haven't got the remotest chance. Of course we want to keep him. We're also incredibly confident he wants to stay. SFC is Rickie's club.
Liverpool is Rickie's club. He has developed a fondness for you understandably. You have had some great times together. However, a 50% Pay rise and I think he would make the switch.
I doubt that. Do you really think you would want to break the precious wage structure that you are all so proud of?
WHU haven't got the asking price. It is the policy of Cortese and SFC that if we want to retain our players then we put a ridiculous price tag on them. However, if you want to part with £20M for a 30 year old, I'm sure we could accommodate that. Rickie would still rather stay though. He loves it here.
I think that trixter is mistaking us for the 'little Southampton' of 15 years ago when we were restricted to 15,000 gates. Today, we are more than competitive with the majority of the division as the signing of Gaston Ramirez proved. Why would we sell Rickie? other than if he doesn't fit in our plans...If Rickie chose to move, then it will cost you nearly 10m to get him if Holt was worth 7m and I will say good luck to him, but I really don't think that you understand the spirit that we have here at Saints...Remember Kelvin Davis chose to stay in League One rather than join you in the Premier League and I suspect that Rickie would do the same.
And how do you know that? By basing it on Grant Holt? A - you didn't get Holt and B - Holt is just a **** Lambert so Lambert would cost more.
Being honest Liverpool is the only club that could turn his head at the moment.....but will they?...probably not.
That's probably how much Rickie is realistically worth. Quadruple that, and that's the selling price.
