Martinez will get it if he gets a champions league spot. Without a doubt.

Especially when you consider that he's managed to bring in about 40m in transfer fees.

If other supporters had a gripe with bruce because of his newcastle background then that's their reasoning. I really wanted it to work for him as he was from the local area and knew what football meant in the north east. However in interviews bruce rather pushes the newcastle background as the reasoning for his sacking to cover up the fact we didn't win for 14 matches and had the worst win percentage of any team he has managed 29.59%. By the way O'Neil 35.2% had a better win percentage in the time he had here over bruce. Currently Poyet has 42.9% win percentage far better than either so far.

i would personally compare hull to middlesbrough. similar sized club. middlesbrough overachieved with a chairman with money. we are currently 7th highest average attendance 41,240. i don't compare us to newcastle. they are where they are from a wealthy owner (john hall) who bought them in 1992 and took them into the premiership and their fan base tripled. they've still never won anything of note for over 60-70 years.

Larsson was class under Bruce, and suddenly stopped playing when he left.

(Worth a punt in the summer?)

Ah yes forgot Larsson, he is absolutely class.

Funnily a lot of the players that Bruce signed dropped off a bit after he left, or continued their form for the rest of the season under MON and then dropped off the following season. I think that says how much the dressing room was behind Bruce.

Your opinion, I thought he was pretty good for them. A better crosser of the ball than Elmo.

Must be doing something right to be consistently getting called up and starting for Sweden, considering they have other very good midfielders.

steve bruce signings for safc and played under him:

    Lorik Cana- average player
    Fraizer Campbell- average player/injury prone
Darren Bent- good signing but would have been for any club at the time.
Lee Cattermole- does nothing but foul
    John Mensah- injury prone
    Michael Turner- average player
Matthew Killgallon- poor waste of money.
    Simon Mignolet- good player
Marcos Angelari- waste of money - didn't even get in the reserves
    Titus Bramble- no more said
    Ahmed Al Muhammadi- poor player
Cristian Riveros- poor hardly ever played
    Nedum Onuoha- poor player
    Danny Welbeck- loan- good player
Asamoah Gyan- good player but didn't score enough
    Sulley Muntari- waste of space
Sessegnon- cracking player on his day but only turned in a 1 in four game performance. is now warming the bench at west brom
larsson - average good at set pieces.
da silva - waste of money.

alot of poor signings there and wasted money!

"Good signing but would have been for anyone at the time"? Er, that's how you could describe all good signings, the point is that he got the player to Sunderland, that's the crux of the 'good signing' bit.

darren bent was a class striker but just couldn't get in the spurs squad. we were after him before bruce was manager. bruce was asked if we wanted to continue with pursuing him. http://www.spurscommunity.co.uk/index.php?threads/sbragia-targeted-bent-bid.42900/

While the OP has had a bit of a mare here the accusations on this thread of Sunderland fans arrogance just shows how little you know.
I would say we are about the least arrogant fans going, 40 years of rank mediocrity will do that to you. We know we have under performed as a club for a long long time in the main thanks to poor managers.

What some people may take as arrogance is actually just pride, pride in our history, pride in our 40,000 average gates this century while being served up dross for the main part, pride in our support which never wavers however bad it gets. No arrogance, just a knowledge that with the right man in charge we have the potential to regain our lost stature as a "big" club.

We are 6 points behind you with 2 home games coming up while you have 2 away. You have one win in eight.

Come the 29th Jan we could be level on points with you and in a cup final so hold off on your piss take just yet.
