I'd be a bit disappointed if we get Dean Smith to be honest. Why swap one struggling manager, with another one?
I doubt if there's anyone on here who wasn't thrown by the events of Saturday, Gozo. I think the decision to replace DF is correct, but I'm saddened that it had to be made. I always harboured the hope that DF would prove able to find an answer to the conundrum of our surviving in the EPL, but the fact is that he didn't, and once being "too good for the Championship but not good enough for the PL" ceased to be enough, a change was inevitable. Whoever is now appointed, I don't think you need look for ulterior motives.

I mean it sounds like Sky Sports stirring the pot to make business for Skybet... You could easily use the same "facts" to write an article saying interviews had gone well, an appointment is imminent but the presentation of the manager has been delayed because they wanted the chance for a few days off/with family before getting stuck in the job.
It will surely take time for the new guy to recruit his team. Especially if they are under contract elsewhere
Interesting quote from Paul Lambert: Former Norwich City manager Paul Lambert says the spirit of the club’s players during his time at the club was pivotal in making progress from League One to the Premier League. Lambert managed the Canaries between 2009 and 2012 and helped the club secure mid-table status in the Premier League. In referencing the spirit of his group at the time, the 52-year-old Scot pointed to an incident involving midfielder Bradley Johnson. “Bradley was a really good lad,” Lambert told BBC Scotland’s Sacked in the Morning podcast. “We were playing at QPR, who had come up to the Premier League with us. The lads said ‘if we win can we go to the darts at Alexandra Palace?’ “I said ‘no problem’. We played the game and Johnson had an issue with Joey Barton. Johnson went down as if he’d been butted. Barton was sent off. We won the game and the lads said ‘we’re off to the darts’. I said ‘see you Monday, behave yourselves’. “I’m in the house on Saturday night and get a call from the PR guy for Norwich. He says ‘I’ll send you a picture’. He sends a picture and you know at the darts when they get a 180 the fans hold up a picture or something with writing on it? Johnson has a card held up saying ‘Barton your breath stinks’. I said ‘send him to my office on Monday’. “He comes in. He says ‘what are you going to do?’ “I said ‘go and get ready for training’. I couldn’t fine him as deep down I was actually laughing myself. The spirit that group had was incredible. The whole thing with that group was they were so close and water tight.”
According to the Times and now the BBC, Lampard has pulled out of the race: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/59256413
Also just been reported on BBC Sport. Perhaps he doesn’t fancy being the manager in Championship without much spending money.
And in the Pinkun: https://www.pinkun.com/sport/norwich-city/canaries-ncfc-head-coach-latest-frank-lampard-8485368
Or perhaps he can't cope with a job where everything isn't laid out on a plate for him. Let's face it - to fail to win something at Rangers he would have to be monumentally awful.
Massive own goal by the club announcing the candidates like Britain's got talent show contestants only to have one of them look around the place and decide he doesn't like the look of the offer. Now the bridesmaid gets the gig by default. Embarrassing stuff .
Turns out the bridesmaid doesn't want it either . Cringe what a laughing stock https://www.express.co.uk/sport/foo...ampard-dean-smith-daniel-farke-premier-league
