obviously losing to any team is not wanted. losing to the big teams is expected. although we have splashed out a record amount in transfers this year the big teams have been spending more than that each season for many years and pay a massive amount more in wages.

we lost to man city 7-0 but spurs got spanked 6-0. considering what they have spent that is a result worse for them by a multiple of many many millions.

Spurs have the exact same issues that we do, can pick out the strikers. Can knock it around nicely in the middle of the park but struggle to penetrate in the final 3rd.

VERY interesting - Spurs have scored exactly the same number of goals as us, which when yo uconsider the amount of money they spent is very poor 'ROI'!!!!

If you look at -http://www.footstats.co.uk/index.cfm?task=formguide, you'll see that outside the top few teams (and Citeh), 'goals for' is very low.

So what conclusion do you draw JR? <ok>

They might have scored the same amount of goals as us, but they have 9 points more. On 20 points they nearly have half the amount of points they are likely to need to avoid relegation & we are only 12 games into the season. We on the other hand are looking like we are going to be in the bottom half of the table for the remainder of the season. Other than the fact that both teams are failing to meet the owners / fans expectations I really don't see how we can consol ourselves with comparing us to them. The next 3 - 4 games will give us a good indication whether we are going to be a mid table team or in a relegation battle.

Mainly that defences have improved over last season - don't think strikers have lost their skills, though having said that, ours have had VERY few (or procatically nil) chances to show what they can do, as they have had no decent balls into the box to try and score from.

Yes, they have a much more resilient defence than we do, hence they are much further up the table. As someone said on another thread, I feel we need to be pressing more and not defending so deeply in our own half - at least it would give the fans something to cheer about. The run up to New Year will have a massive impact on whether or not we can move away from the relegation zone and we really need tos tart scoring goals and winning games. <ok.
