Bruce: Let's park name change talk STEVE Bruce has asked supporters to again shelve their concerns over the club's proposed name change when Hull City welcome Chelsea to the KC Stadium tomorrow. City host the Premier League leaders at the end of a week that saw the controversial ambitions of owner Assem Allam bubble back to the surface. An independent tribunal set aside the Football Association's original decision to reject last April's application to become Hull Tigers and raised the prospect of another bid being launched before the end of this month. The divisive matter is ill-timed with Premier League survival on the line and Bruce has called for a united front when Chelsea visit the KC in front of the live television cameras. "The club has been sitting on the decision for weeks because what we didn't want is any distraction," said Bruce. "We don't need any and for all real supporters, we need them to help the team at this particular time. "It's hard enough without distractions. Let's park it. "I assure all supporters that nothing's going to be done for the foreseeable future. "Let's make all the supporters behind the team. We need them at their best." Since first floating the idea of a name change in the summer of 2013, Allam's plan has been met with stiff resistance among supporters. That boiled over into a terrace altercation during one fixture last season but there is hope tomorrow will pass without incident. "I'm not going to use it as an excuse," added Bruce. "As far as we're concerned, I don't think it's ever impacted on the team. "If we wanted to use that as an excuse, then I think it's a bit feeble. "We need to all do what we have to do to keep the club in the PL. That's more important than anything else – and that includes the name change."
Thanks DD, i find it strange he asks fans to "park it",and then tells us "As far as we're concerned,i don't think it's ever impacted on the team".
I'll be singing CTID at 19.04, but that's now standard ( I suspect I will also be singing other things just after that) It's a good job we do as often it's the loudest chant of the match Be interesting to see how loud and prolonged it is today, but I couldn't care less whether it's only me If people choose not to sing that's fine ( there's a lot who choose never to sing) But to boo?!?!? No people who boo other City fans should be ejected ( and I don't approve of booing the booers either)
The song City till i die has been sung for some years before AA ever took over and i sing it with pride ...Anyone booing it is a ****er. Imo.
The Boo-ers were targetting CTWD not the team. They perceive that the resistance will scare away the owner and leave them without PL football. Small minded anti-boat-shakers.. They would let Allam or any millioniare do what he wants as long as he's pouring money in.
