OK then, why is this referendum considered to be on par with a local or regional election - when it clearly is not ?
Rogueleader, you can have my vote if it'll make you feel better. I don't give a **** about the result of it either way and won't be wasting my time voting. It reminds me of two *****s having a fight, even the winner is still a loser.
Hmm. So even though I currently live somewhere else, havent become a citizen of that country and remain eligible to walk back into the uk any time on any whim for as long as I please, still have property in the uk , still pay a number of taxes/bills in the uk and have active bank accounts, maturing pension plans, insurance and investments in the uk - or more specifically Scotland - I shouldnt be allowed a say in the direction of the country where I was born and lived most of my life thus far in ... but its ok for someone with no previous connection or commitment to the country who happens to be resident at the time to have a say? That sucks ... and smells not a little corrupt.
Can't you just fly back to Scotland for a holiday, vote, then go back to Oz? Otherwise, just see it as a sign from God that you deserve to live somewhere nicer
How are you managing to pay UK taxes? When I lived in Cloggieland I was classed as tax resident in the Netherlands and thus exempt from UK tax. The only thing I couldn't get out of was the Council tax because I still owned UK property - even though I wasn't using any council services. As for your assertion that you may 'walk back to the uk at any time', I fully support your right to a voice when you do so. Until then, it's tough titty. People actually living in the country come before ex-pats who may or may not waltz back at some undefined time in the future.
