I'm happy to doubt what Cerny says about Defoe, safe in the knowledge that if he is right I will be far too happy about signing Defoe to care that I was proven wrong! I could possibly see a loan move, but a permanent move seems very unlikely. Stranger things have happened I guess.
What Cerny actually said way back when was.... "Striker inbound - 3 month loan with view to permanent transfer in January. London club." It didn't even make sense, or was even possible because of loan rules, but he later said it was about Anelka. With regards to Defoe- be great if it comes off, but Spurs only have three out-and-out strikers in Defoe, Adebayor and Pavlyuchenko - VDV usually plays in the hole. So losing Defoe would leave them with a useless Russian they don't play or want and Adebayor, who they don't even own?! Unless Harry - who's going to be a bit busy elsewhere in January - has two top strikers in his plans, I can't see Defoe going anywhere.
I hadn't read that article before posting, but where exactly does Warnock in anyway hint at signing Defoe?
that's who they were talking about the time. --------------------------------------------------------------- âBut itâs true to say there are names on that list. Yes we have to knock them off at times when we realise itâs beyond our means at this moment, but it doesnât mean we canât look at people like that, so we are looking at top players to try and bring in.â
the fact that 'Arry has publicly stated that Defoe is not for sale and is going nowhere is a pretty good indication that he might be joining us
Good post Cerny, I enjoy your cryptic predictions. I hope your right about Defoe, I would love him at Rangers. As long as he gets the goals that keep us up, then surely the fees mentioned will be offset by the financial rewards of remaining a premiership club. I don't know why folk on here are against us signing him? He will be our biggest coup in years.
cerny like your stuff. dont really like your "i own you comment". you have to admit even tough it might not be your fault that you have been wrong. I hope you are right with this one but if a spurs striker gets injured in the next few week you could end up with egg on your face.
Not a chance,Harry will need Defoe if they are to carry there challenge for a top 4 place.Pavalachenko will be the only striker leaving Spurs.
Unless they sign another striker, I can't see any of the three leaving, and even then it would most likely be Adebayor back to Manchester. Cerny, if we sign Defoe in January, I, among many others here, will publicy apologise to you. Until then, you're a no-nothing twat. And I say that only to have something written down that I can publicly apologise for.
