Why isn't Oregon pronounced like foregone, but with no F? In fact, why isn't foregone pronounced forgwon?
How do you pronounce Scone? Is it pronounced like you would say "cone" or "gone". I'd say the latter. No wonder immigrants find it hard to learn the lingo.
