Does that mean it can't be bought by the club?

No, but if Hull City Council agree to the KC being declared a community asset the community are given a chance to buy it. At the present time that means buying a freehold with a long lease and little or no income.

Does it prevent it from being used as anything but a stadium? My understanding is that if the owner wanted to sell the asset, they'd need to give people a 6 month moratorium to put a case forward and show they have the finances in place to buy it. If they didn't, I would suspect any future use by the original purchaser would be limited by covenants, not the ACV? Or have I read that wrong? Will it make it more attractive to a potential purchaser of the club?

Oxford did it last year. Funnily enough, they're looking at moving away fans too, after opposition teams commented on how uplifting it is to run out of the tunnel toward their own supporters.

Isn't HCC the owner? The Allams own the SMC which are just tenants?

So exactly what is the purpose of this community asset thing and why now? Also, just... Why?

and why would that be the marketing manager rather than supporters liaison officer?

I'm sure the club can arrange something to get you over for a meeting and a game.

If you approach our supporters trust they could act as an intermediary and help push something through.

You may have to settle for a boat trip though.

It basically just means the stadium can never be sold without the community being informed in advance. The community do get the opportunity to bid for it if it is up for sale, but not on any preferential terms and there is no obligation for their bid to be accepted, it's really just about knowing what's going on and getting an opportunity to act if it's necessary.

Many supporters trusts are going currently doing this, in addition to Oxford United as you've mentioned, there's also Old Trafford (Manchester United Supporters Trust), Anfield (Spirit of Shankly), Portman Road (Ipswich Town Independent Supporters Trust), The Valley (Charlton Athletic Supporters Trust), Valerie Park (Prescot Cables FC), Liberty Way (Nuneaton Town Supporters Cooperative), St Andrews (Blues Birmingham City Trust).

In reality, a sale of the stadium is highly unlikely in the near future, but you never know what might happen in the future and this is simply a way of making sure the fans know what's going on.

Provided fans are kept informed. :emoticon-0105-wink:

Oh, and I guess it means the succesful bidder could use it for whatever it wanted, it doesn't have to remain a stadium.

The Glazers dropped opposition to the application as they say the ruling would not have 'any meaningful impact' on Manchester United and there was 'little point' in a legal fight.

Merged the threads as apparently ideas are getting missed.

Chuck thoughts in and let's see what comes out.

Boothferry Park had a covenant on it saying the playing surface couldn't be built on, didn't it?

Probably. My favourite covenant's the one Mr Pearson, an abstainer, put on the park on Princes Ave, bequeathing the land subject to no new pubs ever opening for a set distance. Hull being Hull, we've named a nearby pub in his honour and Prinny Ave's become a circuit. <laugh>

There's a covenant forbidding development on the land known as Beverley Westwood. This was there before the racecourse. They simply renamed a chunk of it as "The Hurn" and built the racecourse on that.

It's interesting that, with all the words and inside information, nobody has come forward to claim the stand move as their idea. It'd be interesting to see the full thinking behind it and reasons why some people thought they knew best.

What's clear is that those making the noise would have done so anyway, they're the ones in N4 or bits of the East. The ones getting the club and CTWD support are the ones in N2 that can't be heard.

The club don't post on here, you'd be better off emailing James and asking him.

Encouraging a singing area in the east, probably E4 was suggested by a few when the evictions were announced, but unfortunately the suggestions were ignored. It's a shame, because unlike the evictions, they were pretty much cost neutral. It's still not too late, provided the genuine will for an atmosphere is there.

Part of the problem is that some people have invested their reputation and others their money into the moves, they can't let it be accepted to be anything other than a success, despite the obvious fact that there are no new singers, and the ones expected to be singing want to move so they can be heard.

They try to pedal the myth that noise is atmosphere, when they're very different beasts. We could have someone banging a drum for a pair of hours. It'd be noise, but it wouldn't be atmosphere.
