the board were under great pressure from the fans to sign players they couldn't afford - and as such the subsequent fall from grace is the fans fault? behave. despite not being privy to accounts, player demands, contracts etc etc. we all want our team to improve, and there is nothing wrong with that. nobody expects it tomorrow, certainly not at a club like norwich or portsmouth...as a fan you trust those in charge to manage club progression against the money available to do so.
if our owner could provide some sort of marketing analysis to sort of prove why he is changing the name than we would be more accepting of a change of name. You could actually get to a situation were teams changed their name as often as their kits
Hull dont own the stadium and that is part of the problem for mr Allam. The stadium is owned by Hull City council. This is part of the problem cause the council would not give him the a £43m stadium for free. This is why he says the word city is common because he couldnt get his way with the council. He spits his dummy out whenever he gets questioned about stuff. He hates being challenged on anything. How can you take somebody serious when you are blackmailed into decisions. Without going into all of the he did this and that the guy is a liar and a bully.
As mentioned above, I was being flippant. I think it is clearly a branding exercise, which I would imagine he has at least taken advice on, but I doubt he would want to release confidential market data to the general public! After all, Hull fans are only one set of customers from his point of view, and in terms of revenue probably the lowest. Went on your board briefly and it seems most of you are expecting to thrash us Saturday, and would take a draw as a poor result. Is that your feeling? I think chances are we'll draw or it will be a City win, though Hull winning is well within the realms of possibility. I can't see us being thrashed though (probably talking it up...) because while we have been on the wrong side of a fair few spankings recently, it has almost always been against a top six club. And we dominated the game at yours earlier in the season even before the sending off. Can definitely see us failing to score and you nicking a 0-1 win though.
Hi Rob, I can't say ive read about the Hull fans giving it large. But, to be fair we have a lot of threads and members. My view is it will be a tight game. I would take the draw now to be honest. We have improved since that game. We are new to this league so give me a 1 nil win any day of the week. I think Cardiff, Palace + Sunderland (I hope) for the drop.
Can't exactly agree with that. If that was the case people would not of been called for CH to be sacked all season, instead they would trust DM sticking with him. As I said previously you would hope any board would be strong enough to stick by their ideas, however fan pressure does appear to almost force them into certain decisions. So its not all the fans fault, and I don't think anyone is saying it is, but they can certainly force the issue with regards spending/ sackings etc.
I'm sorry my friend but you are wrong. Portsmouth fans did ' want it now ' . That is how they ended up with the owners they did and 'arry as manager. If you want to build something affordable with a 10 year plan you appoint Wenger. If you want somebody to spend big money quickly and hopefully buy a quick trophy - albeit contrary to the financial stability of the club - send for 'arry. He ' bought' them the cup and the fans wanted more - spend spend spend. When 'arry realised the money was running out he was off and the ride on the slippery slope began. If Coventry were still run by the Robins family they wouldn't be in the pickle they are today but under pressure from fans, whose heads had been turned by promises, they sold the Club and look what happened. Read what Guru says above. He is being very honest in saying their heads were turned by a billionaire owner and now they pine for the Cobbold era. To the Cobbolds, the Delias etc the club is what they supported and now look after to their best ability even if it costs them money. To the new breed of owner a club is a business proposition. The fans do not want to see that. All they see is ' he is a millionaire ' but not the bit that goes ' and he has bought the Club purely to make more millions ' If it goes wrong he gets all his money out plus a profit and runs away leaving the club with the debt and the problems. If it goes well just look at the Glazers. Already got their money back and a lot more beside, taking millions out every year, still own the club which is where all the debt now lies. Lets also not kid ourselves by pretending that fan pressure is always pleasant letter writing and that is easy to say ' no '. Remember the abuse aimed by Blackburn fans at their owner when he said they would have to live within their means. Ask Mike Ashley how unpleasant and even frightening it can be. We can say that he deserved it but would you like to have been on the receiving end of the abuse Chase got. Even our beloved Delia has been on the receiving end and lets not forget that if many fans had their way the club would have been sold to the crooked foreign Lawyer, the insurance man whose name I forget or Fernandes all of whom would have been a disaster. I readily conceded that if a club goes tits up the main culprits are the owners/the Board along with Banks who foolishly lent the money and the club's Accountants who should have spotted what was happening and tried to stop it. However, I will never accept that supporters who push until they get what they ask for deserve my sympathy when it all goes wrong.
