I don’t think they’ll cancel , to do so loses them any credibility whatsoever Agree with the above thoughts, a week ago they’d just spent big in the Transfer Window and wanted to publicise this and improve their fan image . bad performance today could be talked around “new signings still to add into team” It’s the post match stuff that’s made it very uncomfortable for them
Thing is, it actually isn’t too late. We’re not adrift as yet, and a vaguely competent manager (as opposed to this berk) has a half decent squad to work with. It has to be now though.
As with the Blackmore interview not so long ago, Semmens at al do seem to appreciate the value of talking to the fans regularly, they’re under no obligation to (despite what some people have said in the past). Mostly over the years, they’ve got this right but there have been a couple of times where they’ve shot themselves in the foot. When announced, it probably seemed a good time (or certainly not the worst) to explain why they accelerated some spending plans (alluded to in the Blackmore interview), maybe explain their position regarding Joe Shields, commercial decisions, etc, especially as things were starting to look better on the pitch. However, it’s all unravelled spectacularly quickly; with no action on the manager front before Tuesday, it risks becoming a worse PR move than having someone in a Scream mask doing the promotion for a pre school nursery. I can see postponing it being a thing if they do act and end up employing someone else but I can’t see cancellation based on them not wanting to get any flack about NJ or his odd ways. That would again be the worst spin possible at this point…. Almost as bad an advert for club as keeping him in post and hoping for a miracle.
The only way they could get away with cancelling would be “safety fears” the clear and obvious way out of this situation is to sack NJ. He won’t resign because he wants the pay off. I can only assume we’re assessing replacement options before making an announcement. Maybe if they have a good lawyer they can sack him for gross misconduct and save a few pence
Maybe they called the forum, with foresight of an improved performance yesterday & were going to underline their commitment to NJ by announcing a term extension! I wouldn’t put it past them. So possibly, yesterday’s inept performance & his stellar post match interview might have indeed flipped their thoughts? #silverlining (please).
Sorry to admit, I’ve never taken much notice of these previously, thinking they’re just nicely coordinated PR stunts but this one ….. I can’t wait! I’m actually excited. The only Saints thing at the moment, that’s really got me yes, excited.
The problem with these forums is the type of fan that gets to ask questions isn’t always the type of fan we want asking the questions. There will be a lot of useful, valid questions that don’t get asked.
No point at the moment surely? Our football isn’t exactly getting the fans pouring through the turnstiles
I would ask whether they used Microsoft PowerPoint or Apple Keynote to present the new manager metrics
And frankly, stop trying to be bloody clever about it. Stop this “if it’s too comfortable, break it” bull. Get someone like Nuno in, who knows the league, can organise a team etc etc.
People have received invites via email now, so check if you were waiting to hear back. Anyone on here going to be there?
I assumed this would be cancelled or at least postponed until a later date. Rasmus is going to get some stick. It will be very interesting.
That’s what they were saying on TSP last night. No Radio Solent involvement at all, and no live broadcasting at all. As they said, we will all have to rely on Twitter updates from the audience.
