I fail to see any scenario where this forum won’t be utter carnage, other than Jones being sacked tonight.

So that was the plan all along. Sack Jones, and introduce the new manager at the fans forum. Lol

I’d take Dave Merrington at this point.

If the option was there, would anyone fancy going back to Mark Hughes?

Quite frankly, Emlyn Hughes would be better even now, and he’s been dead nearly 20 years.

There’s no escaping the hard facts for SR and Rasmus in particular.

A week ago the big inescapable question that needed answering was how and why Jones was appointed and do they stand by that appointment.

Given today’s developments, the question of NJ’s future is now clearly one that has to be considered. To not act now needs to be justified. So how/why he was appointed will still need answering, but how he remains in post is now the bigger question that must be answered (and they know this).

So either they must have an answer ready , or else must act beforehand.

To call a Forum at all does seem odd (much easier to hide away right now). The idea that there’s an announcement coming of some sort holds some credence

I’d agree, except the forum was announced before today’s **** show.

    Yes, it was.

But is was still announced after the many other **** shows, right?

I dont think they have announced it btw to show us a good sacking - although could be a good way to bring back public executions i guess…

    Chilco

I have to admit that I am at a loss as to why the Saints' board decided it was necessary to call a fan's forum in the first place. The absence of Jones is also curious insofar that it is recognition that the manager is not popular with the supporters. It seems another staggering misjudgement by the board but , then, they dohave a track record of making poor calls.

I do not buy the theory that the forum was a prelude to Jones' sacking and feel that it was probably intended as a meeting for the board to explain why decisions have been made and how previous errors are being corrected at the club albeit we are yet to witness the benefits on the pitch. I cannot see it having been anything other than an attempt to reverse the negative PR amongst fans and nothing more sinister.

Unfortunately, I feel that the board have now effectively set a trap for themselves. Any defence of Jones will no longer wash and any forum will now have a totally different role. As it stands, they have three options. Either they hold their hands up , sack Jones beforehand and we witness a massive exercise in contrition or they continue as planned and simply exacerbate the problem. If they take this second option, I have to admit that the anger will turn against SR and they will ultimately be hounded out. The third and most likely scenario is that they cancel this forum which has simply added all sorts of additional pressures that were previously not there. i.e. We now have the potential for direct confrontation with the board. I think the forum would produce a poisonous atmosphere such as we have not seen since the days of Branfoot and this will be much worse if there is any kind of defence that Jones knows what he is doing / the fans are all mistaken.

I would add that the most likely scenarios are that the forum does not take place, Jones is sacked before /after the Wolves game, we get relegated and that someone else comes in and takes the club off the hands of SR in the summer. The alternative to each of these seem to be unrealistic.

I hope somebody brings up NJ’s weird comments about playing a different style to the one he’d like to, and asks Rasmus whether he’s meddling behind the scenes or whether there’s too much player power.

Not because I believe either are the case particularly, but because it will make Ankersen bristle and it’ll be NJ’s own doing because he can’t help but run his mouth and fire off random excuses.

It seems obvious to me that the reason this was called now was because of the high levels of spend in January. When they organised it they probably thought it was the best time to get this out of the way and could point to how much was invested in Jan to shut anyone up who was talking about on field matters with lines like “we have invested and expect results”. They obviously couldn’t have foreseen the **** performance today and Jones’ comments that have wound people up even more

A win against Newcastle with a Wembley appearance and coming away from Brentford with at least a point would have placated most fans and made any forum a much softer scenario for the board. The fact that this has not happened and the fan's reactions this evening have been hostile just makes me doubt the wisdom of SR proceeding with this. Even if they present a clear and logical argument, no one is going to listen. The results speak for themselves and the board cannot defend the undefendable.

Yeah I don’t think they should do it tbh.

Won’t help anything right now. We are a shambles. It’s clear to see.
