North Devon and into North Cornwall is a good shout if you want lots of award winning beaches and decent walks. Lyme Regis in Dorset is nice too but the beaches get mobbed in high season. The Isle of Wight used to be our family holiday destination back in the 70's but not been there for decades now so not sure if it is as nice as my childhood memories lead me to believe. Don't tell anyone but the best beach is at Saunton Sands in North Devon. Get there early for a decent parking spot as it gets rammed and if you don't want to be surrounded by the usual families who pitch up as soon as their toes touch the sand be prepared to walk along the dunes to find a more open spot. The beach goes on for miles and at low tide it is a massive area. Good for kite flying or those funny wheeled things attached to parachutes if that is your bag. Plenty of room to set up for beach cricket or football and enough waves when the tide comes in for a bit of body boarding or even surfing. please log in to view this image

I live in Verwood, roughly 30 mins from Bournemouth and 45 mins from Poole. The New Forest is 15 mins away - Moors Valley Park nearby - lovely wooded area with cycle tracks (bike hire available) going through the forest and climbing activities available. New Forest nearby - beautiful walks with horses, ponies and cattle. Had an interview recently for a role in Lyndhurst...and the complaints from staff that worked there was horses in the car parks!!! Where I work away from home in Surrey we get rubbish dumped everywhere by lazy staff that cannot open a bin lid!! I digress. If you fancy a chill day at the Bournemouth beach - do not park too near the seafront as it is pricey but there are roads a little distance away where parking is cheaper maybe a 20 min walk or so.
Obviously I am a bit biased as I live here, but you can't beat Cornwall. As been said St Michaels Mount, Praa Sands are beautiful. Also Fowey go there and go across on foot ferry to Polruan, Rock and parts of Bude. Been in Looe today and it's not the nicest of beaches and very busy. There is also Bodmin Moor go up to Minions and The Cheese Ring, Eden Project, St Necterns Glen (hope I spelt that right) an amazing waterfall you can walk under. Then Tintagel and Boscastle, Falmouth and Perrenporth. You can also go down a mine, but probably very busy since Poldark hit the screens again and that would include Charlestown another filming location but beautiful especially if a sailing ship is in the dock. Oh and we have a theme park Flambards, never been myself but it did make national news last week for not having a hoist in disabled toilet. Then there is the Tamar Valley and also Plymouth, not the town centre but a trip on the boat around the navy yard and then go to Royal William Yard for lunch or dinner. If you want to ask any questions about places to go here just message me.
