The sacking of Chris Nichol. Did my head in, to the point that my late departed friend and I decided we'd switch to another team. No idea now why we chose Aston Villa (certainly not bloody Cameron!) but we did. We lasted a week!

Overall, it is how the club behaves that influences my feelings about it, not the behaviour of players.

    Ok, it's time to confess.

I have been 'married' to Southampton for nearly 40 years, our ruby wedding anniversary is this month. We have had our falling outs, there have been tears but many smiles and moments of joy. I have met many other great friends through the saints.

I am on Jeremy Kyle shortly for those all important lie detector test results.

Earlier this season I went to watch another club. I don't think it's fair to mention the name of the other club. They scored and I cheered. It meant nothing - saints were playing elsewhere at the same time and they were all I could think about while I was at the other ground.

It was a one night stand that I'm not proud of. Once I have been on Jeremy Kyle and told the world and got it off my chest I will work with his after care team to work it all out.

I love Southampton and always will

I understand all the reasons for misspelling etc. and I sympathise, believe me, and I'm not one of those who constantly correct spelling and grammar. It's just that getting people's names wrong is a bit of a phobia of mine, that's all. Shall we leave it there?

You need to be more careful with what you do around the keyboard that can make it sticky.

Whatever happens between me and Saints in the future, we'll always have Coventry (and Walsall).

Don't think I will ever fall out of love wit saints. Sure there are times you think why do i put myself through this but those make the good times even better. Just the feeing of a win is enough to keep you going. Remember how low we were after losing the first four games of our first season back in the prem. That win against villa made us realise just how good the feeling is. Love saints and always will.

When I saw this thread title, my first thought was of sheer panic about Mrs Godders.

I always panic when I see the price of our season ticket renewals.

I may have to resort to a pay day loan this year except I don't have a pay day anymore and I don't have anything worth pawning.

The post office account is empty so the still very upset Mrs Godders<wah> is going to have to take in laundry and go out charring again.

I think its more a question of age. When I was a youngster supporting Saints, there was no 24 hour media and gossip about the team, and I was more accepting and way less cynical than I am now. When you are a kid the players are like gods, as you get older you realise that actually they are just footballers. I was in the same pub as JWP tonight, if I had been me as a kid I would have been beside myself with excitement, now I was just interested in seeing what he was eating (oh, and his girlfriend, by the way, scorcher...but I digress!)

I am still as passionate as I ever was about the club and indeed about some of its players (Jack Cork for example). I think there have always been the players we love and the players that are just passing through which is why Lallana leaving was so upsetting for a lot of fans and he became a figure of hate almost as compensation for a lost love.

Anyway, basically I think that its we who change as we get older rather than anything that the club has done. In fact in many ways the club feels more in touch with its fans today than it has in the past.

I used to be more interested in football in general....now it is only how it affects the only club that matters. Galileo had it wrong...Southampton is the centre of the solar system :) It is very rare that I watch a game that doesn't include SFC. I like England internationals and will sometimes watch snippets of European games where English clubs are involved...I quite like Arsenal and I used to like Liverpool <grr>, but that's it. As Lff said, I don't think it's the game...I think I have changed. On the other hand, I will still watch 5 days of cricket...even though that is less rewarding that it was:oops:

Forget Pompey! Go for a good Rioja as they have a splendid range of reds!! As for a white, you can get some wonderful British whites at farmers´markets here in the South!
