Going to be screaming at the TV for this one. Biggest game Ive seen in a long time. im usually quite reserved and a hub of coolness. But going to go absolutely mental for this one
I dont believe all this if we had had Europa League tripe. If we had had europa League, Shelvey would not have been sold, Suso would have remained and our European team would have looked something like this: GK:Mignolet RB Wisdom CB: Toure CB Agger/Skrtel/Sakho LB: Cissohko CM: Alberto CM: Shelvey CM: Suso RF: Moses LF: Aspas CF: Borini With te opportunity to pay any iof the first team squad and have the likes of Tex, Ibe, Mclaughlin to come in if required. Id ont think we would have won it, but we would have been able to compete without hampering our Premiership charge. Our actions at the start of the season were defined by our lack of European football, had we had it, we would have set up differently, but there is no reason why the prem 11 had to be affected. Perhaps
You wouldnt be in the top 4 take a look at last season for all the information you need. Effectively you would have doubled your fixture list had you been in europe and performed in any cup.
I think you should a seventeen point () guide as to why Europa League football would have made us eleven points worse off
So basically you're making excuses for yoonited not being able to handle domestic/Europe combined this season despite being reigning champions. And don't play the Moyes Card.
Playing around 40 games, 30 or so less than some rivals will play Small squad wouldnt have coped with europe. The same small squad crashed out of both cups. Demonstrates the lack of depth. The way you play is very much 90's United. fast, direct and explosive. In europe you would have been slaughtered against decent sides. Simply not as open as the PL Europe increases chances of injuries thursday nights and weekend games in recent years have effected your league campaign massively. Only 1 PL club can handle both and they couldnt handle it this season thanks to some dick called Dave. The money you have spent on bribing refs came from the money you set aside for airfares. 8 points on why Gerrez.
We have an advantage over teams that are playing more games than us, sure, but they also have bigger squads than us. Having said that we could at a push, as RB suggests, have kept loan players at the club and brought through more youth squad players to cope. So I doubt it'd have as big an effect as some are suggesting, although I agree we'd probably be lower in the PL table (maybe/maybe not outside top 4 as that's just speculation). My main problem with what people are saying (perhaps tongue-in-cheek, perhaps not), is that they are not giving us our due credit, either to the team or BR! We have gone from 7th position to a title-tilt this year. Has that ever been done? Also, some fans (perhaps bitterly) are suggesting we're playing above ourselves. Perhaps so, but, under Fergie, Manchester United consistently played above themselves. I think that's just a product of good mangerial skills and bringing the best out of a collection of players. Also, Liverpool are breaking our club records and others this season. Most goals scored by a strike duo for liverpool since Saint and Hunt (a record that could well fall too this season), most goals scored in first halves in a season. We are also closing in on certain PL records too. Most goals scored (currently 103? by Chelsea 2009/2010) is attainable this season at our current strike rate, Suarez is closing in on most goals scored in a season, and SAS are also closing in on the most goals scored by an attacking pairing. We are also (I think!) 1 penalty away from the most penalties awarded in a season (jointly held currently by us/Chelsea/Manchester United at 12). It is no surprise that, in the main, the most attacking teams glean the most penalties. The Chelsea squad which had 12 penalties in a season were the team that scored those 103(?) goals in that record-holding season and, I haven't checked, but, I'd expect MU to have had a high scoring season when they got their 12 penalties, too. It's been a superb season for us reds and long may it continue. I still don't think we'll win the league (I said Man City/Chelsea at the start of the season, so I'll stick with that), but if we can keep winning the belief will grow. Realistically, I'll wait until our games against Man City and Chelsea have been played at Anfield, and see how they go, before saying we are true title-contenders/favourites. If we can get a win and a draw from those two games (which is possible given our form, especially at home), we'll have a great chance of pushing the two other teams for the title. I'm just enjoying every minute of this season. As agonizing as it has been at times, there have been far more periods of elation that I'm used to. Massive game on Sunday and I'm really looking forward to it, win, lose or draw!
You will get more credit from most next season IF you keep it up. 1 season wonders come and go after all. real greats maintain it year on year.
