Glesga, as much as I understand why you're trying, it's a massive waste of your time. This guy is the most deluded ****wit I've ever encountered, you'll just end up sucked into a 5+ page argument where you'll end up insulting him.
How is that remotely possible? I've never been religious, my parents have never been religious, how can you possibly be born as a believer, if those around you don't belive in religon? I didn't wake up one day as a 2 year old and think, "you know what, i won't believe in god".
I didnt know that about alcoholism specifically TBH You are of course right generally, and that is what I meant when I said stats from various disability organisations, although I do accept, as with a lot of scientific theories where they often are not, other factors need to be considered The problem arises when these 'other factors' are not considered by opposing arguments, science in particular is responsible for a lot of 'educated guesses' within its realms, but as you may have seen some have great difficulty accepting that
maybe if youu focuuse less on 'winning' and actually contributed something positive for a change you might learn something
Toby I could school you again, but I found this recently Most people who insult other people are insecure. They think that it will make them feel better if they put someone else down, or they insult the other person to take attention off of themselves. Sometimes people who are angry insult other people because they are not mature enough to think of a different way to handle their anger except to try to start a fight or to try to make the other person feel bad. Mature people can communicate with others without insulting them. Any ideas can be discussed between mature adults without fighting or insulting each other. Mature people can "agree to disagree" and give each other the right to have different opinions. '' and I thought of you fan x
Its quite simple really Kyle just read the whole sentence, especially the beginning 'the good lord says....''
I don't remember some ethereal voice telling me to follow a religion as a baby, i was born, and raised, as an atheist.
you didnt get it did you? and no one is born atheist or jew or christian etc the parents make them such
I do get it, it's you who said the good lord says, not me. You implied that religion is decided by a higher power, and that we are born religious. Stop twisting the facts. I know what i said, i know what you said.
I didnt imply anything you have jumped to conclusions, how do you know it wasnt a tongue in cheek response to a person who doesnt believe? which it was However as a muslim the quran does tell me that and I believe it scientifically, a person is born without learnt behaviour but the brain has a 'god spot'
No I said As the good lord says you were NOt born atheist, as ALL are born theist The good lord says, not me
Ok, how does that work, i'm no nueroscientist, but surely if the brain of a baby doesn't understand the concept of behaviour, how can it possibly be aware of religion? Thats the thing i dislike about religion in general, it's just 1 massive contradiction, a bit like listening to a group of Spurs fans.
So a fictional character created by some drunk guys says something, you automatically believe it, without checking it out first? If "Allah" told you to jump off a bridge, you would do it, no questions asked?
I think the spurs fans jibe is a bit low TBH However the 'god spot' argument is a scientific one and the latest study can be found in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. In it the scientists say that they believe that there is not just one but several areas of the brain that form the biological foundations of religious belief. Apparently a belief in God is deeply embedded in the human brain So the lord says it and science confirms it, it seems
How do you reach that conclusion? Intoxication of any sorts is not allowed in Islam and if you believe something to be true, why not trust it?
I've just found the article, the study was conducted in the US, a god fearing country, thats hardly going to be a fair reflection, US scientists have a reputation for telling the public what they want to hear, not the truth. I fear they have got to you to.
I reach that conclusion, as there is no scientific proof in the existence of God, be it your god, the christian god, or any alternatives.
