He's shown glimpses of talent but went backwards when given a decent amount of opportunities. At the top level you have to take every chance you get.

I think Laudrup could develop him....if he has someone on the staff who can perform brain transplants <ok>

"I tell ya what... I'll give ya Shelvey, Downing an' a signed Christian Poulson Merlin football sticker... I'll hand deliver them on the back of a 1985 50cc honda vision moped

    £32m! Talk to me"

look I'm glad he's gone. I've said on numerous occasions he couldn't run. players like henderson are where it is at in either europe or england. athletes..... also he has a nasty tendancy to wander forward ahead of the ball rather than join the play like a midfielder should. midfielders do NOT make run strikers should, they have to be tactically aware and unfortunately like so many "english stars" he has this issue.

Best of luck to the lad.... profit is great on these deals.

hopefully we can use the slot freed for someone like alberto or even suso... it does mean that our midfield is rather starkly bare IMO...... gerrard, henderson, lucas, allen.... spearing... there's not one amongst them you'd really look to as the utlimate midfielder. Lucas has big questions to answer now, gerrard has the same tendancy to wander off forward rather than being the guy doing the playmaking, i hope he can ge tinto his head he's THE guy and extend his career by just sitting in and dictating. Sturrdige would just love supply from gerrard. Henderson has not shown me the ability to get on the ball in the engine room, athletic, disciplined, gets forward to join but passing and creating? no.

I really hope we don't get exposed by injury to gerrard this season. 38 games, play like pirlo please!

50/50 on Shelvey, getting the money helps but will he improve thus nudging his price up? If so a loan deal would've been better. But then what if he injured himself, his price drops and we sell for £3m. We've taken the safe option.

One thing that's certain is he'll score past us <doh>

Genuinely had high hopes for Shelvey but it has been a disaster year for him. If we were a cash rich club, then I would have shoved him in the reserves or off on loan for another year or two until he matures.

Unfortunately, we're not in that position so the extra £5m can help improve our team.

Apparently laudrup was very keen on securing shelvey on his return to Swansea this week, maybe he see's that he can develop him personally i was underwhelmed when i heard about us signing shelvey but as he is now a Jack bastard he will have our full support.

He'll be fine, passion, energy and with the right training a very good attacking midfield player.

Always bossed it in the Championship and the U21's development league but never really carried that confidence over to the first team when he got his chance. Too quick to stop if left out the side. Hard to guess where he will go in terms of his career, but I think this move could suit him well. He will be further up the pecking order at Swansea.
