Ipswich fan - thoughts

* Jerome your best player, Skuse ours.
* We started well, you got a foothold, we perhaps edged first half. Ht fair.
* We started second half reasonably well, you ended last 20 strong when fitness told due to your better possession play.
* Wasn't a classic but both teams up for it. I think we tried to play footy and were certainly a lot better than the 2-0 loss at Carrow Road.

Thoughts? Done and dusted, class tell at home, or could you wobble? Not wumming here but you did mess up home to Boro, you have lost a few at home.

I honestly think we'll lose 2-0 but this is far from over. I predicted 1-1 today and was on radio Suffolk.

And how many matches have you done at Portman Rd? And are you actually from Ipswich, or even Suffolk?

..If only you could stop yourself sucking up to the Budgies you'd be ok...<ok>

This is really sad- if you look elsewhere you will see there has been some sorry and poor abuse of people as a result of yesterday's game. Attitudes like this stoke this feeling still further. To lay into one of your own fans for wanting to talk about the football with rival supporters is dreadful and laughable. We should treat each other with much more respect. I respect both clubs as trying to break into the corporate cartel that masquerade as football clubs and both sets of supporters for sticking by their clubs - how many pot hunting Man U supporters do you know?

I once made a derogatory remark about Ipswich on here and have regretted this ever since - I should have shown more respect - I expect it back mind! After that I resolved never to use the B word and always, always, always address my remarks to the football (apart from now). I applaud Westlake's comments and would be pleased to hear more from him - I joined this board to read about football and to learn from many more knowledgeable than me - NOT to read about the latest vendetta

Draw was a fair result, first half I felt we just edged it and were worth our injury time leveller. Dorrans had a short spell midway through the first half where he was getting some decent service and was causing us issues, we snuffed out the service to him and after that he was largely ineffective.
I have no gripes with your goal, for me Jerome just out muscled Tommy. Whilst on Jerome I believe he picked up his card for persistent fouling, he must have picked up a third of your teams infringements.
2nd half Budgies edged it without really creating too many good chances plenty of procession without end product, we stifled your play well the whole game. It was interesting watching the highlights back last night, the comment from the pundit was Budgies playing a high amount of long balls! Had a little chuckle at that.

Anyhow all to play for next week, I honestly think it will be a very big ask to go to the carrot patch and pick up a win, however we are in the tie so you just never know, we have had a handful of good away wins whereas you have had a few cock ups at home!

Just wanted to say I felt both sets of fans made for a cracking atmosphere yesterday, especially first half, generally well behaved to boot.

COYBs.

I think the excitement of getting a draw yesterday and so many humbling losses coupled with too much pop has clouded the judgment of some of our Ipswich friends.

Black coffee all round I think

What are you talking about, who's judgement is clouded, you yourself say it was the right result and I haven't seen a post on this thread that deviates from that.!

Great post above, OxCanary. It beggars belief that, now the dust has settled, a member of the B-word fraternity :emoticon-0105-wink: wants to discuss the match yesterday - only to be insulted and shot down in flames by ONE OF HIS OWN LOT, ffs! <doh>
One or two can see beyond the rivalry / hatred, welly - time you grew a pair and joined them <ok>

If you were a premier league manager (or even the Brentford or Middlesbrough mnanger) watching yesterday's game you would quite fancy turning over either team - this should worry both sets of supporters

Not sure I agree with that, I honestly think the winner of the play offs will come from our fixture!

Our main problem was that Ipswich managed to make us play their game. We would try to knock it about, but it got so scrappy that we ended up having to hit it long. I don't think I saw Ipswich pass the ball more than three times, but we also struggled to play at our best.

It was also clear that the pitch had been heavily watered to stop the ball rolling easily. That's also why there were a hell of a lot of slipping overs. Whoever is the Binner groundsman, that was a neat trick because it really stopped us playing properly.

Yes, I wondered about this - at times it looked like they were playing on a skating rink. Presumably we have an antidote to this for the home fixture?

Cmon Rob, that is poor form....all,pitches are watered before and during H/T, it makes for a better passing game, did not pass the ball more than 3 times :emoticon-0140-rofl:

It's not our fault you felt you did not have the passing game to get through us is it!

we might differ on that but what of the premier manager comment?

It is clear from our POV that we need a lot spent in the summer to even have a chance of staying up IF we run out victors in the play offs, as for yourselves, yes you will need to invest but not to the degree that we need to....also you wil have Wolfy back. <ok>

I think we need some fairly radical surgery. I worry sentiment is clouding our judgement about some players whose best days are now behind them. We would need to move on but will not to the degree needed. I think Ipswich might be more ready to ditch the past and take realistic hard headed decisions - genuinely fell about at the Wolfie comment - nice one!

Before you all lay into Welly with all this fake indignation let me just add that Welly is a brilliant poster with a wicked sense of irony and reading his post made me genuinely chuckle. Us Ipswich posters to a man knows how Welly operates on here and he adds a huge amount to the debate.

Classic Welly but for those that don't know him his comment would have sailed right over your heads!

Well Well Welly, wow they are interesting comments.

For what it's worth, I am from Bristol and have supported Ipswich 15 years. I have been to Portman Road several times and attend 8 - 14 away games per season as away games are easier for me to attend.

I thought instead of using the internet like a little girl, perhaps we could get some intelligent debate on the go on both our forum and the Norwich board.

Although Welly if you want to embarrass yourself to the world I frankly couldn't care less and I don't feel I have anything to explain to you or anyone else. I bleed blue thanks Welly.

If you have an issue with my comments then that's entirely your decision of course............. I will see what you thought today.

Were you at the game and if so where did you sit?
