Because there is a 23 year old man fighting for his life. Football is put into perspective when something like this happens.
The difference is Muamba stopped breathing for 6 minutes which means if he does survive he will most probably have brain damage!
What about the thousands of other people around the world that die/are fighting for their lives, does nothing ever matter then? Don't get me wrong it's shocking what's happened, but I hate the way because he's a footballer its more important to everyone.
The fact is, people don't care about things they don't witness or it doesn't affect them. They read about it or watch it on the news and they don't think about it after that.
Not necessarily. If he was given immediate CPR he should be OK as oxygen will have been kept circulating to his brain. I was taught CPR by a St John's paramedic who gave CPR to a guy who hit his head at a motocross event and whose heart had stopped. He gave the guy CPR for 45 minutes until they got to hospital and he could be put on a ventilator and the the guy made a complete recovery.

Just talked with my Mum whose a nurse and unfortunately she said that the fact he is in intensive care suggests a brain injury. Hope this isn't true but as she has worked in hospitals for god knows how many years she does know a lot about these things.
Another statement released: He remains in a critical condition and he remains anaesthetised in intensive care and will be for at least 24 hours.
I still feel your original post was not called for. Millions were touched by what has happened, because they were watching it and recognise him as a footballer and a public figure. Your one liner was dripping in "attitude". If you really felt the need to belittle someones thoughts on this, you could have taken the time to explain it fully at the time. Last night, my wife and I felt quite sombre at listening to the news.
Don't see that myself, I don't work in the medical field however like a previous poster said if CPR was given and oxygen was provided then there is no reason why he shouldnt be ok as far as any brain injury goes, I would say he is in intensive care still as he is 23 years old in peak fitness and has just had a huge cardiac arrest, i would imagine he has been anesthetized (self induced coma) for his own safety! I'm not saying he is not Ill Just don't think anyone should assume!
I don't swear often but I will say this now: If you are showing no respect towards Fabrice Muamba right now, then you're a f****** c***! He is a 23 year old man fighting for his life! He has a 3 year old child! He is engaged! He is studying for an accountancy degree! He is an honest man like a lot of us! I was jumping around like an idiot in the last 5 mins of our game yesterday but then watched the Spurs Bolton game and everything was put I to perspective! Footballers coming together! Fans coming together! From all over the world! He is an honest man and I really could not care less if we had lost yesterday! My mind was in Muamba and Muamba only!
Beating Millwall yesterday was the last thing I thought about before falling asleep. Sad things happen in life, you can't let it pull you down every day. I hope the lad pulls through, but theres too much sadness in the world to dwell on it every day. Its sad, but true. Again, I hope he's okay.
