I would like to ask my fellow United fans on whether he was a success for us or not, when he joined us from Monaco, he arrived with a big reptuation, he had just won the world cup the year berfore ( correct me if i'm wrong ), and he cost around £9 million pounds which was alot of money for a goalkeeper back then, I thought he did well for us in my opinion, i know he made mistakes as well because he was settling it but he provided some world class saves for us like he did against Liverpool in the 02/03 season when Hamann hit a shot from 30 yards it was going in the top corner until Barthez got a hand on to it.

It was a shame that he left us in the summer of 2003 but we did sign Tim Howard and he was very good in his first season with us.
 
I will never get over him having a mare at Arsenal...Not for me I'm afraid.

He had his moments, I hid behind the couch every time I saw him and Brown in the same starting line up though... :shocked:

Not sure how true it was but there was talk when he signed that he wanted Fergie to agree to let him play as a striker in one game every season <laugh> Maniac.
