You're on the wind up if you think an elbow is more dangerous than 6 studs + full body weight to the head.
For comparison purposes. Ballottelli got a three match retrospective ban for deliberately stopping to stamp on Scott Parker's head a few seasons ago. Is Ming's offence worse than that or is the FA's desire to hand out a heavier penalty only apply to 'small' teams?
Nah mate, they're good lads. They leave us oldies alone. Rugby is for nutters, so I steer well clear.
ah, but that is not quite what happened, is it? He trod on his head, rather than stamped on it, whilst running in the direction you would expect him to run in, he couldn;t run through Zlatan so had to jump over him. And I doubt if there was as really that much pressure applied, as, by the time his body-weight had shifted to that foot it had slid off Zlatan's head and was on planted on the floor. He does look that way for a split second, but most of the time his eyes are on the ball, I couldn't even say if it was deliberate or not. The elbow, on the other hand, is quite blatant, he looks around to see where he is so he can get him, I remember Carroll doing the same thing to Chico a few years ago and we stupidly challenged it when it was clear to me that it was meant. As far as I'm concerned if Mings treading on Zlatans head was deliberate then both offences are equally as bad.
I wonder if they have a sliding scale of violence that has a corresponding number of match bans? Push - 1 Match Punch - 2 Matches Elbow - 3 Matches Headbutts - 4 Matches Standing on Head - 5 Matches Use of a Knife - 6 Matches Gunshot - 7 Matches Rape - 8 Matches Poke in the Eye - 9 Matches Tickling - Lifetime ban
Dembele got 6 matches for not quite poking Costa in the eye. That's worse than something they've deemed to be a deliberate stamp on someone's head, apparently. Our Belgian deserved his ban, but the punishments do seem to be rather random, don't they?
Bunch of half cut old men sat around a tele dishing out their own form of justice based on MOTD highlights.
That's the problem. Absolutely no consistency and it's all based on media reaction. This received no card, no post-match reaction and no MOTD coverage, for example: Different game on Sky or BT and that's a big incident.
Gary Mabbutt got elbowed by the dirty **** who loved being called fash the bash. Broke his eye socket and caused him massive injuries ... was out for over 4 months or so (may be wrong on the timing cos it was a while back ) Elbowing someone in the face deliberately can cause equally serious injuries imho. Both deserved a 6 game ban.
The reports not out, so we don't know what words they used. The FA have simply said that it was violent conduct, so far: http://www.thefa.com/Home/news/2017/mar/08/tyrone-mings-suspended-080317
I just hope that at the end of all this discussion and FA nonsense Man Utd lose some games. Then I'll be happy.
Using your link from the BBC they said; Bournemouth defender Tyrone Mings will serve a five-match ban for violent conduct after a Football Association panel ruled he deliberately stood on the head of Manchester United's Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
