We have had a few discussions about the obviously unfair and uneven penalties handed out for footballing 'crimes'

Who makes these inconsistent decisions???

How the devil was Andy Carroll found to be guilty for a red card??

All of us who have seen the incident played over and over again will feel the same as the footballing pundits, that the original decision by Webb was wrong and I'm sure most of us felt that the decision would be reversed
 
I wonder if Webb has achieved a status within the game that makes it difficult for the
FA to say he was wrong.
Personally I think Carroll knew what he was doing but it was no more than a shrug and
merited a yellow card; no more than that.
 
At first glance I was convinced it was an accident and that the momentum of his body meant that he caught Chico Flores. However, when you watch it again Carroll has a kind of 'take that!' look in his eyes so I think he meant it. And of course, if you raise your hands in today's game it's a red card offence.
 
But also. If you look at the point where his arm clips the top of Flores' head, there is no reason why Flores goes down as though he has been whacked in the face.
 
Yeah but that's what many footballing prima donna's do these days because to get an opponent sent off gives your team an advantage - Flores has a track record doing this.

I'm surprised that Webb bought Flores' histrionics, but if you give your opponent the opportunity then you always run the risk of being carded. Webb probably looked at the intention, rather than the reaction.
 
Whatever BB. But I feel sorry for Carroll. He's had a tough time and deserves a bit of good fortune.
And the decision when carefully reviewed should have gone in his favour IMO.
 
He's a competitive lad and I agree he should get a bit of luck. On balance perhaps it should have been rescinded, but I can see why it wasn't.

But there isn't such a thing as justice in football - we've all seen some absolutely horrific tackles go unpunished and we're also Bristol Rovers supporters - there's no such thing as justice for us!!!
 
I've said it about other football matters, that sometimes the person who is making/has made mistakes should hold their hand up and admit their errors.
A bit of honesty or humility from Howard Webb and this could still be rectified!!
 
i think its a harsh decision. no way is it a 3 match ban. in real time its a clear accident in my eyes. in slow motion is looks bad like there is intent.

nasri gets injured vs newcastle after a disgusting tackle. the newcastle player gets a yellow only and a lot of high profile people in the game was saying after that it should have been a red and a 3 match ban. then look as carrolls incident. i think its an injustice.

but if carroll aint playing for 3 games then thats another 3 games lambert has to impress the england boss. i think it will be between lambert and carroll who will be going to brazil as the big man up front.
 
West Ham are to take legal action to overthrow the red card. How long will that take???

The FA have decided that they will offer a further review of the incident today to prevent any legal action

It will be interesting to see if they are big enough to change their decision. Probably not!!

Probably could open a can of worms Sapphire.
If the FA does change its decision any club may threaten such a move if
they're not happy!

That seems to be everyone's main concern.
But for me that should not be the overriding factor.
If the decision can be reasonably challenged as in all other judicial cases in our democratic country, then let us have a fair decision not one which as in this case is IMO clearly the wrong one.
